As a Cloud Infrastructure Software Engineer II on the Deposits Platform team, you'll design, build, and troubleshoot cloud-native infrastructure and applications with a strong focus on AWS. The role involves development in Java/Spring Boot, Kubernetes (EKS/ECS), automation using Python and Unix shell, and provisioning via Terraform across multiple AWS accounts. You'll apply AWS architecture principles, monitoring tools (CloudWatch/Datadog), and CI/CD practices to deliver secure, resilient, and scalable systems within an agile team. As a Cloud Infrastructure Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within Consumer and Community Banking - Deposits Platform team, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm’s state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role.
Job responsibilities
- Executes standard software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting
- Applies 6 core pillars of AWS architecture principles to build secure, high-performing, resilient and effective infrastructure for a variety of applications and workloads.
- Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications
- Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve the value realized by automation
- Applies technical troubleshooting to break down solutions and solve technical problems of basic complexity
- Writes secure and high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language with limited guidance
- Gathers, analyzes, and draws conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in service of secure, stable application development
- Learns and applies system processes, methodologies, and skills for the development of secure, stable code and systems
- Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability within a cloud environment (AWS)
- Practical cloud native experience in AWS
- Experience in Java, Spring Boot, and Kubernetes (EKS, ECS) and hands-on experience in developing automation scripts using Python and Unix Shell Scripting
- Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within distributed cloud deployments and cloud native architectures
- Hands-on experience in application development using EC2, S3, EMR, Lambda and provisioning AWS resources into multiple cloud accounts through automated pipeline using Terraform
- Experience in the AWS platform monitoring tools like Cloudwatch or Datadog for monitoring the utilization and in setting up the thresholds and performance alerts.
- Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
- Experience with chaos engineering concepts and tooling
