As a Software Engineer II on JPMorgan Chase's Infrastructure Platforms team, you will work in an agile environment to design, develop, and operate secure, scalable software components. You will apply Linux expertise, automation, and scripting to build containerized applications and automate workflows using modern orchestration and scripting tools. You will contribute to secure, stable code and collaborate across upstream and downstream systems while promoting diversity, inclusion, and a strong team culture.

As a Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms team,  you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm’s state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute

with expertise in Linux, automation tools, and scripting languages. The ideal candidate demonstrates practical experience in developing and managing containerized applications and automating workflows using contemporary orchestration and scripting tools.

Job responsibilities

 

  • Executes standard software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting
  • Writes secure and high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language with limited guidance
  • Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve the value realized by automation
  • Applies technical troubleshooting to break down solutions and solve technical problems of basic complexity
  • Gathers, analyzes, and draws conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in service of secure, stable application development
  • Learns and applies system processes, methodologies, and skills for the development of secure, stable code and systems
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

 

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

 

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience 
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
  • Demonstrable ability to code in one or more languages
  • Demonstrate hands-on experience with the Linux operating system, including system administration and troubleshooting
  • Apply strong understanding of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Develop and maintain Ansible scripts for infrastructure automation with 3+ years of experience
  • Write and maintain Control-M job scripts
  • Script proficiently in Python for various automation tasks
  • Apply good understanding of CI/CD practices, version control (e.g., Git), and the software development lifecycle
  • Analyze and solve problems independently or as part of a team

 

 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

 

  • Work in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Utilize monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK stack
  • Apply familiarity with ITIL or other service management frameworks
  • Integrate advanced automation and monitoring solutions
  • Serve as an emerging member of an agile team to design and deliver market-leading technology products in a secure and scalable way
