Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Public Cloud Engineering team designs and delivers secure, scalable cloud-native release management solutions. As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Public Cloud Engineering team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes software solutions for release automation, deployment orchestration, and environment management with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down complex deployment problems across multi-cloud environments
  • Creates secure and high-quality production code for CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and infrastructure-as-code solutions that run synchronously with appropriate systems across AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Develops and maintains deployment controllers, GitOps workflows, and release orchestration tools using ArgoCD, Kubernetes operators, and modern automation frameworks
  • Designs scalable, resilient release pipelines that support gradual rollouts, automated testing, and intelligent rollback capabilities across multiple cloud platforms
  • Implements Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates) for consistent environment provisioning and management
  • Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse deployment and operational data sets in service of continuous improvement of release processes and systems
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems, patterns in deployment data, and uses these insights to drive improvements to release velocity, deployment success rates, and operational stability
  • Develops monitoring, observability, and alerting solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or similar platforms
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies in DevOps, SRE, GitOps, and cloud-native architectures
  • Drives innovation in release management practices including progressive delivery, automated testing optimization, and multi-cloud deployment strategies

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Proficient in coding in one or more of the following is required: Python, Go, Bash, PowerShell
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within DevOps/SRE technical discipline
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, GKE) including deployments, services, networking, and security
  • Experience with at least two of: AWS, Azure, GCP with understanding of core services (compute, networking, storage, IAM)
  • Proficiency with Terraform for multi-cloud infrastructure provisioning and management
  • Experience with ArgoCD, Flux, or similar GitOps tools for declarative continuous deployment

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills 

  • Practical experience with container technologies (Docker, container registries, image scanning)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar)
  • Understanding of deployment strategies (blue-green, canary, rolling updates)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex deployment and infrastructure issues
