Lead the development and evolution of LSEG's Engineering Practices across the organisation, covering Cloud, Software Development, DevOps, CICD, Observability and Operations. ROLE PROFILE:

As Engineering Practice Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing engineering practices across the organisation. This varied position covers all aspects of engineering, including Cloud, Software Development, DevOps, CICD, Observability and Operations, ensuring our engineering practices are fit-for-purpose and ensuring best practices are adopted throughout our teams.

You will actively support the Group’s participation in open-source communities, fostering the exchange of innovative ideas and best practices to bring fresh perspectives and solutions into LSEG, while also contributing LSEG’s expertise to drive industry-wide advancement.

Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining a comprehensive library of LSEG’s Engineering Practices, enabling engineers to contribute, share, and reuse high-quality solutions across the Group. You will champion the adoption of inner source principles, actively promoting contributions across LSEG and acting as core maintainer to ensure the library remains relevant, effective and high-quality.

Success in this role will be measured by increased engagement with the Engineering Practices library, improved engineering outcomes, and the successful integration of emerging technologies like AI. You will collaborate with senior leaders, engineers, and cross-functional teams, providing thought leadership and mentoring to support the professional development and growth of our engineering community.

ROLE SUMMARY:

· Develop strategies, then steer and monitor the delivery of key parts of our Engineering Practices, as needed. Areas currently in focus are platform engineering, Cloud adoption, continuous integration and deployment (CICD), observability, FinOps and DevOps.

· Lead the evolution and adoption of engineering practices across the organisation, ensuring methodologies remain up-to-date and effective, particularly in support of AI initiatives.

· Develop and maintain a comprehensive library of engineering practices, champion inner source principles for LSEG engineering community contributions, and encourage knowledge sharing and reuse of high-quality solutions.

· Manage LSEG’s engagement in open-source communities to bring fresh ideas and industry advancements into LSEG, while contributing expertise to the broader field.

· Collaborate closely with senior leaders, engineers, and cross-functional teams to provide thought leadership, mentorship, and support for professional growth within the engineering community.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

· Broad experience of software and cloud engineering in large, complex organizations.

· Deep understanding of modern engineering practices (DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, CICD, Testing, Observability etc) and IT service management (ITSM) enabled by a modern engineering tooling ecosystem.

· Hands-on experience with coding, and the ability to solve problems using common engineering tools. Examples could be - GitHub, GitLab, Python, Java, Go, PowerBI, SQL, GitHub Copilot etc.

· A passion for open source, and experience of managing and working in open source communities (public, industry or private communities) while working for a large, complex organisation.

· Solid skills in leading and managing communities of internal stakeholders, fostering collaboration and driving the adoption of strategic standards and ways of working.

· Experience with architecture governance, solution design, software development lifecycle, operational resilience, Cloud and Platform Engineering.
