Role Summary

As a Senior Manager in Reliability Engineering, you will lead a global team to ensure the availability, scalability, and resilience of LSEG’s services. This role combines strategic leadership with deep technical expertise, driving automation, process improvement, and operational excellence across cloud and on-prem environments.

What You will be Doing:

  • Lead and mentor a team of Site Reliability Engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Define and implement reliability strategies aligned with organizational goals.

  • Manage budgets, resource planning, and performance metrics (uptime, MTTR, error rates).

  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, encouraging continuous learning and collaboration.

  • Own end-to-end availability and performance of critical services.

  • Drive automation initiatives to eliminate manual tasks and prevent recurring issues.

  • Be responsible for CI/CD pipeline development and integration with testing frameworks.

  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using industry-standard tools and patterns.

  • Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and architectural standards.

  • Lead efforts to automate L1/L1.5 support tasks, including log analysis, triage workflows, and routine remediation actions.

  • Develop and maintain self-healing mechanisms for common failure scenarios.

  • Implement and maintain robust monitoring, alerting, and telemetry systems to ensure early detection of anomalies.

  • Drive adoption of SLOs (Service Level Objectives) , SLIs (Service Level Indicators), and error budgets to measure and improve service reliability.

  • Ensure real-time dashboards and automated health checks are in place for all critical services.

  • Ensure comprehensive, version-controlled runbooks are available for all supported systems.

  • Promote continuous documentation updates and knowledge base enrichment through post-incident reviews and team contributions.

  • Lead major incident response and drive Technical Recovery Team (TRT) calls to restore services quickly.

  • Act as the primary escalation point during critical incidents, including those occurring in US time zones.

  • Communicate effectively with senior leadership during high-severity incidents, providing timely updates and recovery plans.

  • Establish and enforce incident, change, and problem management processes.

  • Optimize cloud infrastructure costs (FinOps) and apply sustainability practices.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge articles and documentation for supported systems.

  • Partner with application, platform, and DevOps teams to deliver scalable, secure solutions.

  • Engage with global teams across UK, US, and APAC time zones.

  • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

  • Ensure audit readiness for all systems managed by the team, including access controls and change logs.

  • Drive vulnerability management and patching processes for supported platforms.

  • Provide coaching, career development, and training programs for team members.

  • Promote knowledge sharing and upskilling across teams.

What You will Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related STEM field (or equivalent experience).

  • 15+ years in software engineering/reliability roles, including 3+ years in leadership.

  • Solid background in cloud platforms (AWS essential; Azure/GCP desirable).

  • Expertise in automation, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, Terraform).

  • Hands-on experience with Linux/Windows systems and cloud security.

  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and incident/change management.

  • AWS services (Aurora, Security, CloudFormation).

  • DevOps tools (Nexus/JFrog Artifactory).

  • FinOps for cloud cost optimisation

  • Big Panda and Data Dog for Observability

  • Good communication and stakeholder management.

  • Ability to work across time zones and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications (AWS, DevOps, ITIL, Agile).

  • Knowledge of financial markets.

  • Experience leading distributed teams and driving process improvement initiatives.
