ROLE PROFILE

We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Technical Lead to help drive the adoption of modern SRE practices within the CIAM organisation at LSEG. This role is deeply technical and hands‑on, designed for an expert engineer who can set the standard for reliability engineering, guide best practices, and mentor others through influence rather than direct management.

You will collaborate closely with platform, DevOps, and development teams to build scalable, resilient, and observable systems—starting with our mission‑critical services and expanding across CIAM and the wider LSEG ecosystem.

This is an opportunity to be a technical trailblazer in our pivot from traditional IT operations to an engineering‑led, data‑driven SRE culture.

What You’ll Do

  • Act as the technical authority for SRE practices, including SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, chaos engineering and reliability automation.
  • Design and evolve the reliability architecture for CIAM services, focusing on operational excellence.
  • Build and enhance automation for deployment, monitoring, incident response, and remediation—drastically reducing toil.
  • Lead major engineering initiatives related to reliability, such as service hardening, failover strategies, and chaos testing.
  • Develop and standardize observability tooling, ensuring deep visibility into system health and user experience.
  • Partner with engineering teams to embed SRE principles into their development, design reviews, and operational workflows.
  • Provide technical mentorship to SREs, DevOps engineers, and developers—driving cultural change through expertise.
  • Lead technical aspects of incident response, improving dashboards, alerts, runbooks, and automation.
  • Influence the broader organisation by producing patterns, templates, and best practices for reliability engineering.

What We’re Looking For

  • Extensive hands‑on experience in SRE, DevOps, platform engineering, or distributed systems engineering.
  • Deep expertise in AWS, distributed systems, and high‑availability architectures.
  • Strong proficiency with:
  • Observability stacks (Datadog, etc.)
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
  • CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
  • Performance tuning, load testing, and chaos engineering
  • Change Management tooling, Service Now or others.
  • Solid understanding of SLI/SLO design, error budgeting, and reliability best practices.
  • Excellent debugging and systems‑thinking skills, with a track record of solving complex reliability issues.
  • Ability to lead through technical authority rather than management—setting standards, guiding decisions, and coaching peers.
  • Passion for automation, repeatability, and engineering craftsmanship.

What you’ll get in return:

At LSEG, we invest in excellence. You’ll be part of a high-performing team where your expertise is valued and your impact is visible. We offer:

  • Competitive compensation with performance-based rewards.
  • A flexible hybrid work model that supports work-life balance.
  • Access to cutting-edge tools and infrastructure to do your best work.
  • Opportunities for continuous learning, including certifications, conferences, and internal mobility.
  • A collaborative culture that values technical mastery, ownership, and innovation.
  • The chance to work on a globally critical system that powers secure financial transactions across markets.
