Lead the design and implementation of NVIDIA's next-generation cloud infrastructure powering open-source initiatives. Collaborate with peers to distill requirements, propose strategy, and tackle large-scale distributed systems challenges. Establish and model best practices for reliability, performance, monitoring, security, and interoperability. Mentor engineers across teams and locations to accelerate development and testing at scale for NVIDIA's open-source collaborations.

NVIDIA has been transforming computer graphics, PC gaming, and accelerated computing for more than 25 years. It’s a unique legacy of innovation that’s fueled by great technology—and amazing people. Today, we’re tapping into the unlimited potential of AI to define the next era of computing. An era in which our GPU acts as the brains of computers, robots, and self-driving cars that can understand the world. Doing what’s never been done before takes vision, innovation, and the world’s best talent. As an NVIDIAN, you’ll be immersed in a diverse, supportive environment where everyone is inspired to do their best work. Come join the team and see how you can make a lasting impact on the world.

We seek a Principal Systems Software Engineer to be the technical leader for the design and implementation of NVIDIA's next-generation cloud infrastructure dedicated to powering our most critical open-source initiatives. We are passionate about the opportunity to empower NVIDIA’s collaborations with the open-source community! We want to develop infrastructure that enables open-source contributors (both internal and external to NVIDIA) to efficiently develop and test software against NVIDIA’s diverse platform securely at scale.

What you'll be doing:

  • Collaborate effectively with peers and partners to find opportunities and distill requirements, propose technical strategy and architecture, and tackle exciting technical problems.

  • Establish, recommend, and model best practices of distributed systems for reliability, performance, monitoring, security, compliance, interoperability, usability, correctness, consistency, simplicity, etc.

  • Mentor engineers across teams and locations.

What we need to see:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • 12+ years of experience with software engineering in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.

  • 10 years of experience designing, testing, launching, and maintaining distributed systems.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science or an equivalent technical field.

  • 8 years of experience setting strategy and direction as a technical leader.

  • 5 years of experience with cloud infrastructure technologies such as Kubernetes, Continuous Integration and Delivery.

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 224,000 USD - 356,500 USD for Level 5, and 272,000 USD - 431,250 USD for Level 6.

You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.

Applications for this job will be accepted at least until January 26, 2026.
