Qube Research & Technologies is seeking a Linux Operations Engineer to join the global infrastructure support team, maintaining and scaling our Linux on-prem estate. You will handle day-to-day administration, deployments, build and provisioning processes, and work with engineering to improve automation and monitoring. The role involves incident troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and contributing to documentation, with occasional on-call and after-hours support. A strong Linux background and scripting/automation experience are required.

Your future role within QRT:

You will join the global infrastructure support team at QRT. Working with end users, application teams and engineering teams you will be key in supporting QRT’s growing Linux on-prem estate in order to meet complex and evolving business requirements. As well as day to day support, the role will also include project-based activities such as new deployments, general administration tasks and upgrades. The role will also involve working closely with engineering teams to enhance platform automation and monitoring initiatives.

  • Administer, support, and enhance Linux-based trading and research platforms in a high-availability environment
  • Deploy new servers and manage end-to-end build and provisioning processes
  • Partner with engineering teams to develop and improve automation and monitoring solutions
  • Troubleshoot incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term stability improvements
  • Contribute to operational documentation and promote knowledge sharing across the team
  • Participate in an on-call rota and perform occasional out-of-hours support (primarily remote)

Your present skillset:

  • 4+ years’ experience in a systems engineering or infrastructure role supporting high-availability systems
  • Strong Linux administration expertise (Red Hat, CentOS, Rocky Linux)
  • Proven experience delivering full server lifecycle deployments, from hardware installation through OS build
  • Solid understanding of AMD and Intel server hardware and components
  • Working knowledge of server networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, UDP, and LAN/WAN technologies
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible
  • Familiarity with scripting languages, including Python and Bash
  • Strong problem-solving ability with excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt
  • Genuine enthusiasm for technology and continuous improvement
  • Exposure to NFS or SAN storage systems is advantageous but not essential
