Join QRT's AWS Cloud Engineering Team as a Network Operations Engineer responsible for operating and scaling the global AWS network. You will implement changes using Infrastructure-as-Code, maintain Terraform modules, and develop automation with Python and Bash. The role involves executing controlled changes via CI/CD pipelines, assessing risk with testing and rollback strategies, and providing timely network support to internal stakeholders. There are strong growth opportunities into deeper cloud networking, platform engineering and automation.

QRT is a global quantitative and systematic investment manager, operating across all liquid asset classes. We are a data- and technology-driven organization applying scientific methods to investing. Our collaborative culture and focus on innovation enable us to solve complex challenges and deliver high-quality returns for our investors.

The AWS Cloud Engineering Team provides a scalable, performant and best practice platform for QRT’s application and core teams to utilize in deploying cloud native services. This team is critical in ensuring that applications are built on a strong AWS foundation from the perspective of governance, security and connectivity.

Your future role within QRT

We are seeking a Network Operations Engineer to support the ongoing operation, scalability and continuous improvement of our global AWS network.

This role focuses on implementing change safely and consistently at scale, improving automation, and providing operational support to internal stakeholders. You will work closely with senior engineers, application teams, security and IT to ensure reliable, well-governed and observable network services in a production-sensitive environment.

The role is expected to involve the following activities:

  • Implement changes across our global AWS network using Infrastructure-as-Code
  • Maintain and enhance Terraform modules to ensure scalable, repeatable and consistent network deployments
  • Develop and maintain automation tooling using Python and Bash
  • Execute controlled changes via CI/CD pipelines with appropriate validation and peer review
  • Assess and manage the risk associated with network changes, ensuring appropriate testing, impact analysis and rollback strategies are in place
  • Support and resolve network-related tickets raised by internal stakeholders in a timely and professional manner
  • Troubleshoot connectivity and configuration issues within AWS environments using both native and third-party tooling
  • Contribute to operational documentation, runbooks and continuous process improvement

This role offers strong growth opportunities into deeper cloud networking, platform engineering and automation.

Your present skillset

  • 2–4 years of experience in a cloud, infrastructure or network operations engineering role
  • Good understanding of networking fundamentals including IPv4, DNS, TCP/UDP and routing concepts
  • Practical experience with AWS networking services such as VPC, Transit Gateway and Route53
  • Hands-on experience using Infrastructure-as-Code, ideally Terraform
  • Experience developing automation using Python and/or Bash
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues methodically and independently within production environments
  • Strong awareness of production risk and high-availability considerations
  • Experience handling tickets and communicating effectively with internal customers
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Desirable experience
    • Experience operating AWS networking at scale across multiple environments or region
    • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows
    • Exposure to IP address management tooling such as AWS VPC IPAM or Infoblox
    • Load balancing technologies (ALB, NLB)
    • Logging and observability tooling (CloudWatch, Grafana)
    • Exposure to newer AWS networking services such as VPC Lattice

QRT is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome diversity as essential to our success. QRT empowers employees to work openly and respectfully to achieve collective success. In addition to professional achievement, we offer initiatives and programs to enable employees to achieve a healthy work-life balance.
