About the role:

We’re looking for a General Manager, Technology to join our Sydney team. Reporting to the Group Executive, Chief Operating Officer Domain, & holding a dotted line to our global Chief Technology Officer, to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of technology for Rabobank Australia & New Zealand. 

This is a senior leadership position with the unique responsibility for all technology domains - Core Banking Systems, Cyber Security, Business Platforms, & Infrastructure. You’ll lead & develop high-performing teams to deliver modernisation, strengthen resilience, & enhance client experience.

What you’ll lead & influence:

  • Review, refine & execute Technology Strategy covering infrastructure, core modernisation, data integration, & cyber resilience 
  • Lead technology teams through transformation using our Agile principles (Simplify@Scale) 
  • Create a culture where teams feel trusted, empowered & proud of the work they do 
  • Continually evolve DevOps, automation, & engineering capability, ensuring operational excellence through stable & secure systems 
  • Represent Region Australia & New Zealand in our global technology community & influence major decisions 
  • Own strategic vendor relationships, outcomes & commercial performance; ensure risk, resilience & value realisation 
  • Maintain an effective first-line control environment with transparent risk reporting & timely remediation 
  • Build maturity in IT governance, change management & release practices, driving integration of frameworks across the Technology business 
  • Own strategic vendor outcomes & commercial performance, ensuring risk, resilience & delivery of outcomes 

About you:

  • Proven technology leader with extensive senior leader experience in banking & financial services, within an agile environment  
  • Demonstrated success in delivering complex modernisation programs & managing large-scale projects with significant budgets 
  • Expertise in platform engineering, DevOps, CI/CD, Cloud, Infrastructure, & Security, with a track record of building high-performing teams 
  • Strong technical acumen across architecture, engineering, & infrastructure domains. 
  • Solid understanding of payments systems & core banking platforms 
  • Well-versed in risk management & governance frameworks 
  • Exceptional communication skills - written, verbal, & interpersonal - with the ability to influence at all levels. Confident in presenting up to Board-level audiences 
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement, including managing external vendors & strategic partners 
  • Adept at navigating complex matrix environments
