Lead the File Transfer Operations Support team (FTOS-L2) to ensure reliability, security, and scalability of enterprise managed file transfer platforms (Axway Secure Transport, IBM Sterling). Own 24x7 service operations and incident management (P1/P2), plan and execute changes and patches, and drive automation using Ansible, Python, and Bash. Design runbooks, configuration management, and certificate lifecycle processes (e.g., Venafi) while establishing observability with Splunk, AppDynamics, Grafana, and Prometheus, and ensuring DR/BCP readiness. Mentor a small team of engineers/analysts, collaborate with engineering to reduce toil and improve resiliency, and produce documentation and reports for audits and stakeholders.

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to lead the File Transfer Operations Support team (FTOS-L2). This role ensures the reliability, security, and scalability of enterprise managed file transfer platforms and services, supporting critical business and partner data exchanges across the organization. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in Managed File Transfer (MFT) platforms with strong operational leadership, risk awareness, and a passion for automation.

In this role, you will:

  • Own 24x7 service operations for enterprise MFT platforms (e.g., Axway Secure Transport/CFT, IBM Sterling B2Bi/SFG) and related components, ensuring high availability and adherence to SLAs.
  • Lead Major Incident Management (P1/P2) bridges for file transfer incidents; coordinate triage across Network, Security, Platform, Application, and Vendor teams; drive root cause analysis (RCA) and preventive actions.
  • Plan and execute changes, releases, and patching for MFT infrastructure and agents/connectors across environments; champion risk controls and Change Management best practices (ITIL).
  • Design and automate operational runbooks, health checks, and configuration management using Ansible Playbooks and scripting (Python, Bash).
  • Manage certificate and key lifecycles (TLS/SSL, SSH keys, PGP/GPG) and integrate with centralized Certificate Management platforms (e.g., Venafi).
  • Onboard and support internal/external partners: create trading channels, routes/flows, maps, mailboxes, and schedules; validate end-to-end connectivity (SFTP/FTPS/HTTPS, AS2/AS4).
  • Establish and maintain observability: build dashboards and alerts using Splunk, AppDynamics, Grafana, and Prometheus for proactive detection and capacity/performance insights.
  • Define standards and hardening baselines; ensure platform compliance with enterprise security, audit, and regulatory requirements.
  • Own DR/BCP readiness for FTS: architect, execute, and document failover tests and recovery procedures; lead post-test remediation.
  • Collaborate with engineering to influence roadmap, reduce toil, and improve resiliency through automation, configuration as code, and scalable patterns.
  • Guide and mentor a small team of engineers/analysts; set priorities, review changes, and continuously improve operational processes.
  • Produce and maintain high-quality documentation: runbooks, SOPs, architecture and data-flow diagrams, and operational metrics reports.
  • Support audit requests, evidence collection, and control attestations; remediate findings within agreed timelines.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and support planned maintenance windows during evenings/weekends as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Technology Infrastructure / Site Reliability / Systems Operations experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on production support experience on Linux and Windows in large, mission-critical environments.
  • 5+ years supporting enterprise Managed File Transfer platforms (Axway and IBM Sterling preferred), including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience driving NextGen Data Center migration for FTS/MFT platforms, including planning, execution, connectivity validation, and automation using tools such as Ansible, Python/Shell, Harness, and Autosys.
  • Strong knowledge of secure file transfer protocols and standards: SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS, AS2/AS4; encryption and key management using TLS/SSL, SSH keys, and PGP/GPG.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Shell/Bash) and configuration management using Ansible Playbooks.
  • Experience with enterprise schedulers (Autosys) for batch workflows, calendars, dependencies, and failure handling.
  • Hands-on experience with observability/monitoring platforms (Splunk, AppDynamics, Grafana, Prometheus), including creation of actionable dashboards and alerts.
  • Demonstrated leadership in incident, problem, and change management with clear, executive-ready communication.
  • Experience with certificate lifecycle management tools (e.g., Venafi) and secrets management practices.
  • Working knowledge of networking and platform fundamentals: DNS, firewalls, load balancers, proxies, certificates, TLS handshakes, and JVM/OS tuning.
  • Ability to create and maintain detailed documentation (SOPs/runbooks) and to mentor/coach team members.
  • Experience in BFSI/regulated environments with strong understanding of risk, compliance, and audit (e.g., SOX, PCI DSS).
  • Experience executing and improving DR/BCP strategies for MFT services across data centers and/or cloud regions.
  • Exposure to messaging and integration platforms (IBM MQ, Kafka, APIs/REST) and their interaction with file transfer pipelines.
  • Experience with CI/CD practices and tools (e.g., Harness/Jenkins/Git) for infrastructure as code and repeatable deployments.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native file transfer patterns and services on AWS/Azure/GCP.
  • Service Management expertise with ITIL v4 Foundations (certification preferred).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline; relevant industry certifications (e.g., Red Hat, Axway, IBM Sterling) are a plus.

Job Expectations:

  • On-call rotation coverage and weekend/after-hours maintenance as needed.
  • Work with globally distributed teams and stakeholders; provide clear status updates and executive communications during incidents and changes.
  • Adhere to enterprise standards for security, compliance, documentation, and change control.
