If so, AMD is looking for a senior technical lead for a high impact role in Software Performance Engineering focused on designing and tuning industry-standard software benchmarks. You will be a member of a core team of high-talent industry specialists and will work with the very latest hardware and software technology. The Person: You will apply your experience in software performance and lead efforts to optimize benchmarks on AMD platforms. You will have the support of and interact closely with key AMD technical specialists to ensure the best possible performance, X-factors and results. Key Responsibilities: Ensure AMD platforms perform competitively in industry-standard benchmarks Identify and analyze AMD strengths and weaknesses in application performance, finding performance bottlenecks Use all available tools and/or source code to determine the nature of the identified bottleneck Design solutions or workarounds to mitigate identified bottlenecks Apply a data minded approach to target optimization efforts Contribute performance improvements to open-source projects and identify other applications that may benefit Stay informed of software and hardware trends and innovations, especially in algorithms and architecture Be a specialist in the performance characteristics of mainstream CPUs Preferred Experience/Skills: Direct involvement in software benchmark design and development Highly confident technical communication skills Experience identifying performance bottlenecks on Windows platforms Knowledge of modern concurrent programming and threading APIs Knowledge of CPU architecture and power/performance tradeoffs Familiarity with modern source version control such as Git, Mercurial Self-starter, passionate about performance Bonus: Experience using CPU profilers such as vTune or Windows Performance Analyzer Knowledge of SIMD intrinsics, e.g. AVX2, AVX512, SSE, NEON Experience developing highly parallel applications and algorithms Knowledge of interpreted languages such as Python and JavaScript Familiarity with both Windows and Linux environments Academic Credentials: At least a BS/MS/PhD in computer science, computer engineering or a related field.
