THE ROLE: As a Senior Member of Technical Staff (SMTS) Engineer, you will lead and shape the firmware strategy for testing AMD’s cutting‑edge FPGA and custom ASIC products. As a technical leader in this highly visible and influential position, you will define the long‑term firmware architecture that directly impacts manufacturing test and product quality, drive innovation across cross‑functional teams, and mentor engineers to elevate engineering excellence. You will work closely with architecture, design, system software, test development, characterization, and product engineering teams to deliver high‑performance, scalable firmware solutions that improve test efficiency, enhance diagnosability, and enable rapid product ramp. THE PERSON: You will be highly accurate and detail-oriented, possessing good communication and problem-solving skills. KEY RESPONSIBLITIES: Lead the firmware development roadmap and define scalable, high‑performance firmware architectures for manufacturing test solutions on state-of-the-art FPGA and custom ASIC products. Deliver robust firmware infrastructure, libraries, and diagnostic capabilities that reduce test cost, improve yield, and enhance diagnosability across diverse FPGA/ASIC product families. Lead debugging and validation efforts across simulation/emulation, bench, and ATE (Automatic Test Equipment) environments, working closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure timely and high‑quality firmware delivery. Provide technical direction and mentorship to team members, and influence best practices in firmware coding, debugging, and documentation. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Extensive years of embedded firmware experience. Strong expertise in embedded C programming, data structures, algorithms, and debugging for processor/microcontroller‑based systems/applications. Experience in working with Linux environment and familiar with scripting languages such as Shell/Python. Prior experience in leading/managing engineering projects/team is highly desirable. Knowledge of RTL design or hardware functional verification is beneficial. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities across global teams.
