Senior Software Development Manager for Amazon Leo, responsible for defining roadmaps, requirements and technical design across embedded software for Leo's satellite hardware. Leads collaboration with customers and partner teams to refine requirements, and guides hiring and development of a diverse software engineering team. Owns design of mission-critical systems in LEO and helps establish a strong software organization across Leo. Mentors new team members and drives value delivery to customers.

From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

This role is for a senior leader in Leo is responsible for driving roadmap, requirements and technical design across embedded components for different satellite hardware. You will work with your customers, partners to refine requirements, understand constraints, hiring & growing your team and iteratively delivering value to our customers.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Key job responsibilities
- Work with our peer teams and customers to design suitable software systems and interfaces to fulfill the mission needs.
- Develop a strategic plan for the growth of the team, both from a software services and organization perspective.
- Hire & Develop a diverse team of software engineers.
- Aid in the design of mission critical systems in LEO.
- Collaborate with your fellow team members to form a strong foundation for a software organization in LEO
- Help on-board and mentor new team members.

Basic Qualifications

- 10+ years of engineering experience
- 5+ years of engineering team management experience
- 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
- Experience in embedded development in C/C++, or experience writing low level drivers

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience partnering with product and program management teams
- Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
