Sr Systems Engineer with software experience to guide the certification process for Prime Air’s drone systems. You will design and execute comprehensive test strategies and certification plans, working closely with software developers and with systems and hardware engineers to ensure DO-178C compliance and regulatory readiness. You will bridge cross-functional teams including QA, program management, and certification authorities to deliver certification strategies and documentation. The role emphasizes innovation, fast delivery to customers, and scalable solutions for safe, in-hour drone delivery.

We’re looking for a Sr Systems Engineer with software experience who combines superb technical, analytical, and operational capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively. This person must be comfortable working closely with a team of top-notch software developers to guide them through the certification process during software design and development. This person will also collaborate with our systems and hardware engineering teams to own the certification process for our components. We’re looking for someone who innovates, and loves solving hard problems. You will work hard, have fun, and of course, make history!


Export Control License
This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon’s ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.


Key job responsibilities
- Develop optimal certification strategy tailored to Prime Air's unique drone delivery system
- Design and execute comprehensive test strategies that demonstrate compliance with safety and performance requirements
- Bridge engineering teams, quality assurance, program management, and certification authorities on certification strategy
- Ensure development processes and documentation meet regulatory requirements and prepare for certification audits

Basic Qualifications

- Experience in written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
- Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs
- Experience dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering measurable results in an agile environment
- Bachelor’s Degree in aerospace, engineering, mathematics, or related field
- 8+ years professional development experience in a DO-178C environment
- Familiarity with at least one software language such as C++

Preferred Qualifications

- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience in professional software development
- Experience leading teams that deliver DO-178C certified software

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
