You will partner with architects, hardware teams and software engineers to translate product and partner needs into a robust architectural direction, ensuring coherence, scalability and long-term sustainability. The role combines high-level architectural leadership with hands-on, data-driven analysis and implementation review, and includes mentoring less experienced engineers and acting as a technical representative with partners and leadership. You will work in a global, cross-domain environment across software and hardware domains.

Arm’s Mali GPU software powers billions of devices. We are hiring a Principal Software Architect to play a key role in defining, shaping, and guiding the evolution of GPU hardware and software technologies. You will be part of a highly skilled, motivated, and multi-disciplinary engineering community, passionate about graphics technology and focused on delivering world-class GPU software solutions!

What you will do:

  • Contribute to and evolve the software architecture and technical direction.

  • Identify key architectural risks, technical debt, and long-term sustainability concerns.
  • Mentor less experienced architects and engineers.

Required skills & experience:

  • Proven ability to work effectively with deep technical experts across software, architecture, and hardware domains.
  • Experience defining and reasoning about software architecture, interfaces, and system-level trade-offs.
  • Comfortable working autonomously in a distributed, global engineering environment.
  • Clear technical communication skills, both written and verbal.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with graphics hardware and software technologies.
  • Background in drivers, firmware, embedded, or low-level systems software.
  • Experience of AI tooling to accelerate development.
  • Understanding of hardware/software co-design and architectural boundaries.
  • Familiarity with build, release, and CI validation at scale.
  • Knowledge of Android platform expectations (CDD, CTS/VTS) and/or platform bring-up.
  • Exposure to functional safety and security processes.
  • Experience engaging with open-source communities or contributing to long-term software roadmaps.
