Associate Software Architects own one or more small/medium client projects or a large technical area, ensuring extensions align with architectural guidelines and the Architecture Review Board. They lead delivery, guide technical teams for timely and quality outcomes, and often assume line management for tech leads while mentoring engineers. The role requires driving implementation with senior partners and clients, maintaining SDLC standards and green engineering metrics across the team. Minimum requirements include 8+ years of industry experience with at least 2 years in a Senior Tech-Lead capacity, strong C++ background, and familiarity with cloud and open-source technologies. Location: Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Profile

Associate Software Architects hold ownership of one or more small/medium size client project and/or a large technical area. They ensure solution level extensions including any components added to the solution are in-line with the architectural guidelines and recommendation provided by the Architecture Review Board. Often plays a lead delivery role in the project/s they are responsible for on the overall technical aspect. They are also required to drive the technical team for timely technical deliveries within budget and time, supporting the project managers and directors. Normally Associate Architects plays the people manager roles for tech leads of their teams. They are required to handle technical participants of the customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the implementation of technical changes and improvements to improve client and business outcomes. Collaborate closely with senior business partners and clients to understand needs and translate them into effective technical solutions.
  • Ensure that all extensions made to the product at the client solution level, or expansions within large technical domains, align with the organization's architectural principles and technical guidelines. Any significant deviations or new developments should be called out to senior architects and, if required, present to Architecture Review Board for approval.
  • Ensure the architecture of the solution / technical area and also the codebase are maintainable and extensible.
  • Hold the technical ownership of either a client solution, sub product or a sophisticated technical area. Should represent the area as the technical owner in senior internal and external forums
  • They should oversight the successful delivery and implementation of customer projects. In certain cases, the customer can be another internal product or another solution.
  • Drive and provide technical leadership to teams to ensure high-quality and timely delivery of customer solutions. Proactively identify and communicate technical or delivery risks, and collaborate closely with business, quality assurance, and delivery management partners throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
  • They hold the responsibility of training and mentoring all reports that include engineers and tech leads who work for the area and in the related customer deliveries. This role more often than not carry line manager responsibilities for the team of Tech leads.
  • They should make sure that the team as an entity and everyone in the team is following the recommended SDLC guidelines and standards. They should ensure GREEN engineering baseline metrics and should contribute fully for other team level baseline metrics to become green.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science/engineering or similar technical field
  • Proven software engineering and architect background in C++ and proven track record of design and deliver large C++ systems
  • At least 8 years of industry experience and at least 2 years’ experience at the Senior Tech -Lead capacity
  • Experienced with modern IT trends including cloud technology, different open source technologies and integration of them
  • Detailed understanding of the full SDLC and related tools
