General Summary:

We seek a passionate engineer with in-depth knowledge on algorithm design for new image sensor technologies to join the Camera Systems team.

The Camera Systems team creates embedded imaging solutions for Snapdragon chipsets that power advanced mobile devices. Our solutions leverage dedicated hardware, multi-core processors, DSP, and GPU cores to provide state-of-the-art photographs, video recordings, as well as scene data for image understanding and object detection. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Design novel image processing algorithms that improves image quality and video quality.

  • Code optimization for GPU, DSP with heterogenous programming.

  • Concept proof and rapid protype for novel camera technologies.

  • Support end to end camera feature commercialization.


Basic Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.

  • 3+ years Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Hardware Engineering, or related work experience.

  • 3+ years of relevant camera or image processing software experience:

    • Signal/image processing and IQ tuning experience

    • Camera and image processing technologies

    • Android HAL system design

    • Multi-camera system design including at least one of following subjects or similar: SAT, image zoom, temporal synchronization, image fusion, depth estimation, dual-camera calibration.

    • Customer support/ camera tuning experience

    • C, C++, Matlab, Python

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluent in C/C++ programming, embedded system software development on ARM CPU.

  • Understanding of camera imaging sensor, camera module and image processing pipelines.

  • Experience in camera system design for smartphone camera.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in computer vision algorithm design development.

  • Experience in programming ARM NEON, OpenCL, CUDA.

  • 10~20% domestic or oversea travel is required for onsite support.

Education Requirements

  • Masters or Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering and/or related field

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.

4+ years of 4G/5G/6G systems and associated cellular standards (e.g., 3GPP NR, LTE, LTE, 3G).

• 3+ years of experience working in a large matrixed organization.

• 1+ year of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Sr. Staff level and above).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Leverages advanced Systems knowledge and experience to research, design, develop, simulate, and/or validate systems-level software, hardware, architecture, algorithms, and solutions while ensuring system-level requirements and standards are met.

Performs complex functional analysis to drive requirements and specifications and to define and align with standards for hardware and software.

Develops and analyzes complex system level design including requirements, interface definition, functional/performance definition, and implementation of a new system or modification of an existing system.

Collaborates with cross-functional teams (e.g., product management teams, engineering teams, etc.) to complete project work, including implementing and verifying the system.

Develops algorithms and works on new and innovative ideas (e.g. IDFs) for a product or feature area.

Drives triage of complex problems at the system level to determine root cause and presents results of testing and debugging to internal and external stakeholders.

Level of Responsibility:

Works independently with minimal supervision.

Provides supervision/guidance to other team members.

Decision-making may affect work beyond immediate work group.

Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information. May require negotiation, influence, tact, etc.

• Has a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to make key decisions).

Tasks do not have defined steps; planning, problem-solving, and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.
