Qualcomm seeks a Software Engineer for the Power, Thermal & Limits Management Systems team to optimize power and thermal performance of Snapdragon mobile platforms. You will own analysis of complex system-level use cases across CPU, GPU, AI benchmarks, Productivity, Gaming, Media streaming, and high-throughput modem workloads, and develop algorithms and techniques to improve performance within power and thermal constraints. Responsibilities include system-wide software optimizations using hardware and software power/thermal management techniques, applying advanced machine learning solutions, and collaborating with hardware, systems, and test engineering teams. In this role, the candidate is expected to own and drive the analysis of complex system level use cases spanning across various System on Chip technologies and coming up with solutions to improve performance of the Mobile chipsets under the power and thermal constraints. The scope of work spans across a variety of workloads touching every aspect of the silicon including CPU, GPU, AI benchmarks, Productivity use cases, Gaming use cases, Media streaming and High-throughput Modem use cases. An ideal candidate would have prior experience working on Android products and/or experience with power/thermal/performance analysis at the product level. In addition, the candidate is also expected to contribute to:

• Development of algorithms and techniques to optimize power consumption and thermal performance of various compute use cases.

• Perform system level software optimizations using hardware and software power/thermal management techniques

• Use advanced machine learning techniques in solving system level power and thermal problems

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

· Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field,.

· Experience in power and performance management techniques.

· Hands-on experience with power, performance and thermal measurement methodologies and optimization on server-class products.

· Strong familiarity with ARM architecture and programming in C, C++, and Python.

· Solid understanding of SoC and computer-system architecture.

· Experience with board and SoC bring-up, device drivers, and common peripheral buses.

· Strong background in Linux, real-time operating systems, and multithreaded architecture.

· Strong debugging skills and experience with ARM-based systems.

· Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

· Apply deep expertise in power, performance and thermal domain to achieve critical engineering goals.

· Lead the ideation, prototyping, and development of key power, performance, and thermal features, ensuring product KPIs are met or exceeded.

· Serve as a domain expert in power, performance, and thermal technologies.

· Identify and address system and software inefficiencies from a power-performance perspective.

· Analyze user needs and constraints to design optimized software solutions.

· Design and implement software subsystems for complex, large-scale products.

· Collaborate with hardware, systems, and test engineering teams to ensure cohesive system design.

· Produce and review detailed technical documentation for advanced software projects.

$94,200.00 - $141,200.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted.
