Lead and perform research, design, development, implementation, and verification of complex camera systems, including ISP, 3A, image quality, tuning tools, and related HW/SW tasks. Decompose architecture and algorithms to drive hardware and software development for Qualcomm's mobile, automotive, IoT, and compute platforms, optimizing image quality, performance, and power. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to debug issues, document features, and translate customer requirements into concrete tasks. Propose and implement improvements to existing or new features and architectures to enhance efficiency.

Company:

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.

Job Area:

Engineering Group, Engineering Group > Camera Engineering

General Summary:

This individual leads, plans, synthesizes ambiguous or conflicting requirements and performs the complex responsibility of the research, design, development, implementation, and verification of complex camera systems and HW or FWtasks (including Camera Image Signal Processor (ISP), 3A (AWB, AEC, AF), Image Quality, Features, TuningTools), algorithms, features, logic design, modeling, and design verification. Acts as a strong contributor at advancing the development of sensor processing system and designing camera solution algorithm used in Qualcomm’s chip for mobile, auto, IoT, and compute field. Performs architecture, IQ modules, algorithm and feature decomposition to drive requirements and specifications for hardware development. Ensures image quality, systems performance, ISP area and power metrics are met. Leverages understanding of most camera processing pipeline details, including how blocks affect the pipeline, and deep knowledge of multiple blocks to work independently on ill-defined tasks related to multiple functions or blocks, or one section of the camera pipeline, throughout the design cycle. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to debug complex issues at a block/system level; researches new tools for debugging. Works to address customer/product requirements in functionality and results; understands how to translate customer/product needs into task work. Proposes and implements changes and improvements to existing and/or new features, models, or architecture to improve performance or efficiency. Collaborates with team members and other teams across organizations and areas on the design, development, and optimization of camera systems, hardware, and/or software. Displays deep knowledge in a specific area; acquires advanced knowledge of industry trends, and/or competitors' products, and advances in various engineering fields related to camera products; shares knowledge with others on their team and helps less experienced engineers understand and apply advanced concepts. Writes clear and detailed technical documentation and feature descriptions for complex projects to guide users and/or customers to use or implement output. Identifies and defines narrowly defined process improvements (e.g., scripts, workflows, new tools). Innovates the industry-leading sensor fusion and image signal processing (ISP) hardware component on chip and contributes to the design of camera ISP algorithm that provide maximized performance and consume minimized power and silicon area on chipsets. Develops new and impactful technical ideas, approaches, solutions, and/or procedures in highly complex camera system on Qualcomm flagship chipset. Encourages continuous improvement and alternative viewpoints to challenge and refine current solution. Communicates highly complex and critical camera related information (e.g., high-level updates, needs, anticipated technical issues, solutions, critical presentations) in an accurate, appropriate, and timely manner. Adapts communication style to meet the evolving needs of large audiences and makes persuasive recommendations.
