Join Snap's Spectacles Operating Systems team as an Embedded Software Engineer focused on audio for AR devices. You will design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain audio software across embedded and OS-level architectures, and help shape audio roadmaps from DSP to ML IP. You will participate in design reviews, code reviews, and triage/debug issues across products and systems. The role requires strong C/C++ software engineering skills, experience with embedded systems, and a broad understanding of audio fundamentals.

We’re looking for a Software Engineer, Audio to join the Operating Systems team!

What you’ll do:

  • Work individually, collaboratively, and cross-functionally on the design, implementation, testing, deployment, maintenance, and enhancement of audio-related software solutions for the Spectacles family of AR devices

  • Contribute to the strategy for and execution of audio roadmaps, with topics ranging from low-level embedded implementations to HLOS audio system architectures to audio signal processing and machine learning technology IP

  • Participate in design reviews, code review with peers and stakeholders to create reliable solutions

  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Good software engineering skills including design, programming, debugging and testing

  • Understanding of operating system concepts (Linux/Android), data structures and familiarity with computer system architectures and associated performance tradeoffs

  • Experience with embedded systems / devices, including integration and device testing

  • Software development process skills including: source control, bug tracking, and design documentation

  • Broad understanding of audio domain fundamentals, which could include: basic audio/acoustics theory, audio signal processing algorithms, audio HW/SW system architecture, audio processing frameworks, and/or audio machine learning algorithms

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and software debugging skills

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Audio Technology or equivalent

  • Proficiency in C or C++ programming

  • 6+ years of experience developing SW for audio frameworks, algorithms and/or features

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Audio Technology or equivalent

  • Familiarity with Matlab or Python programming is a plus

  • Experience developing SW for shipping consumer electronics products

  • Experience with Qualcomm SDKs and tools

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

The base salary range for this position is $209,000-$313,000 annually.


 

Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $199,000-$297,000 annually.

Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $178,000-$266,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
