APAC/EMEA Investigative Analyst within Amazon Security's OSINT team to perform open-source research and analysis supporting insider risk mitigation and workplace incident management across APAC/EMEA. Manages complex investigations, collaborates with incident response, ethics, and investigations teams, develops SOPs, and translates use cases into technical requirements for data collection and analysis. Conducts deep-dive analysis of internal and external datasets, identifies indicators, and produces metrics to measure analytic effectiveness. This role requires on-call duties roughly one week every 1-2 months and regional expertise in online resources, linguistics, and cultural nuances.

Amazon is seeking a highly motivated APAC/EMEA Investigative Analyst to join our world-class Amazon Security organization and work within the open-source intelligence (OSINT) function of the Enterprise Protection Program to help investigative stakeholders with open-source research and analysis to support the mitigation of insider risk and workplace incident management incidents primarily in the APAC and EMEA regions.

As part of the OSINT team, you will be involved with responding to open-source investigative requests by a variety of security and investigative teams which depend on your expertise for open-source collection and analysis. We are looking for someone who is a fan of "diving deep"; constantly learning; eager to drive the development and refinement of open-source and internal-source initiatives to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks to Amazon; motivated to improve mechanisms and intelligence workflows; adept at managing complex investigations; seeks to maintain an understanding of the security needs of our customers and business, and is willing to take on new challenges.

This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every 1-2 months.

Key job responsibilities
- Manage complex and confidential investigations, providing timely and fact-based reporting to partners and leadership.
- Effectively partner with teams across Workplace Incident Management, Business Conduct & Ethics, Global Investigations, and others necessary in support of investigations.
- Establish, document, and refine standard operating procedures and internal best practices for investigative functions.
- Collaborate with Engineering teams to build and develop solutions and tools that support data collection and analysis by translating use cases into technical requirements.
- Perform deep dive analysis of internal and external datasets to target and identify evidence, industry indicators, or context specific to unique cases.
- Collaborate with partner teams in the intelligence community, internal and external to Amazon.
- Identify and produce metrics to measure effectiveness of analytic capabilities and data to drive business decisions.
- Act as a regional APAC/EMEA Subject Matter Expert in navigating online resources, as well as linguistic and cultural idiosyncrasies.

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Journalism, Public Policy, Criminal Justice, or similar field
- 4+ years of demonstrated experience as an analyst/investigator/journalist supporting open-source research and analysis
- 2+ years’ experience working in the private sector supporting investigations (i.e. investigative journalism, insider risk, workplace incident management, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

- Proficiency in multiple APAC languages (e.g., Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Japanese) and/or multiple EMEA languages (e.g., English, German, French, Arabic)
- Knowledge of threat landscapes across the private sector, with an emphasis on the technology and online retail industries
- Experience working with and aggregating diverse and large datasets to provide analysis and reporting
- Demonstration of sound judgement in responding to fast-moving security incidents.
- Experience communicating with senior leadership and advocating on behalf of investigative teams and missions
- Experience with developing requirements for Program Managers, Software Developers, Data Engineers, and Data Scientists
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across a broad range of technical and non-technical audience
- Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy in a global environment
- Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
- Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
