Join a 6-month Security & Threat Management Project Internship in ByteDance’s Global Security team. You will rotate through two of three teams to gain hands-on experience identifying threats, assessing vulnerabilities, and building detection and response capabilities for a global community. You'll investigate vulnerabilities, conduct malware analysis and digital forensics, and contribute to Detection Engineering pipelines and security tooling automation. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with early applications encouraged.

About The Team This 6-month program is designed to provide a holistic view of the security lifecycle. By rotating through two out of three teams, you will gain hands-on experience in how we identify emerging threats, assess our technical surface area for vulnerabilities, and build robust detection and response capabilities to protect our global community. As a project intern, you will have the opportunity to engage in impactful short-term projects that provide you with a glimpse of professional real-world experience. You will gain practical skills through on-the-job learning in a fast-paced work environment and develop a deeper understanding of your career interests. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis - we encourage you to apply early. Responsibilities: -Investigate, triage, and validate reported vulnerabilities; coordinate with engineering teams to ensure effective remediation of identified flaws. You may also conduct focused security assessments and manual "deep dives" into specific features to identify logic flaws or complex vulnerabilities if the need arises. -Gather and analyze intelligence on emerging exploit trends and threat actor behaviors to proactively identify potential surface area risks and develop intelligence engineering capabilities by building automated crawler and scripting tools to identify, label, and transform raw data into actionable risk signals for defensive strategies. -Contribute towards our Detection Engineering pipelines, applying best practices across Detection-as-Code methodology and supporting our AI SOC transformations. Support active incident investigations through performing Malware Analysis and Digital Forensics. -Contribute to the development and automation of internal security tools to improve scanning and automated validation capabilities across all domains.
