The Senior Engineer will design, implement, and maintain PKI and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) solutions for enterprise-scale environments. This role focuses on integrating cryptographic systems, automating processes around certificate lifecycle management, and ensuring secure TLS operations. It also involves providing technical mentorship and oversight to junior engineers, as well as leading automation and cloud-native PKI integrations (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes) to optimize scalability and resilience. The candidate will stay current on PKI and PQC advancements to drive process improvements within the F5 Platform Security Team.

The team provides services and support to F5 development teams in all phases of the Secure Development Lifecycle – including Secure code review, Pen-testing, Threat modeling and analysis, best development practices training, security testing and certifications, vulnerability response, and management.

Senior Software Engineer (Sr SE) – PKI/PQC Specialist

Role Overview:
The Senior Software Engineer will work closely with the Principal Engineer to design, implement, and maintain PKI and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) solutions for enterprise-scale environments. This role focuses on integrating cryptographic systems, automating processes, and ensuring secure certificate lifecycle management while providing technical mentorship within the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and deployment of PKI architectures and cryptographic solutions for F5 products and applications.

  • Lead automation initiatives for PKI processes, including certificate issuance, renewal, and revocation, using tools and scripting languages.

  • Integrate PKI services into cloud-native environments (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes), ensuring scalability and performance optimization.

  • Support cryptographic operations, TLS protocol implementations, and certificate lifecycle management in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  • Provide mentorship and technical oversight to junior engineers on PKI-related tasks.

  • Troubleshoot, monitor, and improve PKI systems, emphasizing availability and resilience.

  • Stay updated on advancements in PKI and PQC technologies to recommend process improvements.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in PKI systems design, cryptographic algorithms (RSA, ECC, PQC), and key management protocols.

  • Proficiency with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Terraform, Python, PowerShell).

  • Strong experience in securing cloud environments through cryptographic solutions (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes).

  • Familiarity with security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001) and PKI protocols (X.509, OCSP).

Core Competencies:

  • Leadership in guiding junior developers on technical tasks.

  • Analytical problem-solving in cryptographic and certificate management challenges.

  • Collaborative skills to work within a cross-functional team environment.

  • Strategic thinking and adaptability to emerging cryptographic trends.

Research & Intellectual Contributions:

Technical White Papers: Publication of research in cryptography, PKI, or PQC in renowned journals, conferences (e.g., IEEE, ACM, BlackHat, RSAC).

Patents: Authored patents in cryptography, innovative PKI solutions, or other digital security technologies demonstrating original contributions to the field.

Certifications Preferred

  • Certified Cryptography Engineer (CCE)/ Certified Cybersecurity Technician (CCT)

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field.
