ING Australia is seeking a Senior Manager, Technology Governance to strengthen risk governance across Technology, coordinating forums like CIO Risk and Governance Committee and Cloud Governance Sub-Committee. You’ll provide practical regulatory advice, support compliance with APRA CPS standards, cyber and ASIC requirements, and develop governance mechanisms for emerging areas including AI. You’ll oversee first response to technology incidents, coordinating with Cyber/SRE/Resilience teams, and ensure timely, well-documented responses. This role sits at the center of shaping ING's technology governance and regulatory posture.

ING Australia is seeking a Senior Manager, Technology Governance, to help strengthen our risk governance foundations across Technology.

In this role, you’ll work closely with business and delivery teams to provide clear, practical governance and regulatory advice. The role will co-ordinate on-going technology Risk Governance forums, such as (but not limited to) the CIO Risk and Governance Committee (CIO RGF), Cloud Governance Sub Committee (CGSC) and other forums as and when needed. The role should support draft of technology risk papers and be aware of key matters being presented to IBAL’s enterprise risk governance forums such as the Risk and Compliance Committee (RACC), Board Risk Committee (BRC) and Board Technology Transformation Committee (BTTC).

You’ll also support compliance with key banking obligations and APRA Prudential Standards (CPS 220, CPS 230, CPS 234), as well as cyber and ASIC regulatory requirements.


If you’re passionate about governance, regulation, and driving meaningful risk uplift, this role puts you at the centre of shaping Technology governance at ING.

What you’ll do …

  • Monitor and evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of Technology risk governance, ensuring it remains aligned with regulatory and organizational expectations.

  • Coordinate key Technology risk governance forums, including the CIO Risk and Governance Committee (CIO RGF) and the Cloud Governance Sub‑Committee (CGSC).

  • Provide regulatory advice to Technology, supporting compliance with banking obligations, APRA Prudential Standards (CPS 220, CPS 230, CPS 234), APRA guides, cyber regulations (SOCI, Cyber Act), and key ASIC and payments requirements.

  • Establish and enhance governance mechanisms, including emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence, and continuously assess their effectiveness.

  • Manage first response to Technology incidents, including triage, escalation, assessment of severity and impact, coordination with Cyber/SRE/Resilience teams, documenting timelines, and ensuring the bank takes reasonable steps in its response.

What we’re looking for...

  • Proven experience in providing governance and regulatory advice across APRA, banking, cyber, ASIC, and payments requirements.

  • Strong Technology Risk Management expertise, with experience as a Senior NFR Officer or equivalent in relevant risk domains.

  • Sound knowledge of banking operations and external regulatory requirements, including processes, systems, and compliance expectations.

  • Proven ability to implement and embed policies, procedures, and governance frameworks effectively.

  • Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work seamlessly across functional and geographical teams.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement capability, able to build trust, influence, and earn the respect of senior stakeholders.
