Role Description
The Senior Cyber Project Manager will lead the delivery of complex cybersecurity initiatives across the enterprise, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, business objectives, and technical standards. Operating within a high-assurance financial environment, the role demands strategic oversight of cyber programmes such as secure design implementation, risk mitigation, and compliance-driven migrations.
The individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including procurement, architecture, PMO, and external vendors—to manage end-to-end project lifecycles. Responsibilities include budget ownership, stakeholder engagement, vendor onboarding, and navigating governance processes. The role also requires proactive risk management and the ability to drive delivery in environments impacted by transformation programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Management of a dedicated cross functional delivery team(s).
- Planning and designing the project(s) and proactively monitoring its progress, resolving issues and initiating appropriate corrective action.
- Ensuring effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the project(s).
- Ensuring the delivery from projects is to the appropriate level of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the project plan and project governance arrangements.
- Budget management and resource planning, managing resources through statements of work.
- Handling urgent requisitions and exceptions to avoid delays in critical projects.
- Regular status reporting to key stakeholders, escalating issues / risks quickly.
- Managing intra and inter programme dependencies and the interfaces between projects.
- Managing risks to the programme's successful outcome.
Governance and Risk Management
- Work with the Programme / PMO to ensure adherence to the LSEG Group standards for governance and risk management.
- Preparation, collation, and distribution of programme status reports, ad-hoc presentations, and reporting (including senior management reporting).
Communications
- Understand the roles, needs, and influence of different stakeholders and plan communications to provide appropriate and well-timed updates.
- Establish effective working relationships with key stakeholders, demonstrating understanding of their perspective, proactivity and their delivery focus.
Core Skills & Competencies
Cybersecurity Knowledge
- Deep understanding of secure design patterns, threat modelling, and risk management.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, FCA guidelines).
- Experience with enterprise security architecture and secure software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Project & Programme Management
- Proven track record managing large-scale cyber programmes (e.g. migrations, audits, compliance initiatives).
- Expertise in project methodologies: Agile, Waterfall, PRINCE2, PMP.
- Budget management and resource planning (e.g. handling requisitions like £63,000 for specialist roles).
Stakeholder Engagement
- Strong communication and coordination across cross-functional teams (Cyber, Procurement, PMO, Tech).
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and navigate complex approval chains.
Vendor & Contract Management
- Experience managing Statements of Work (SoWs), onboarding external consultants, and working with third-party vendors.
- Familiarity with procurement processes and tools (e.g. Oracle Fusion).
Risk & Compliance Oversight
- Leading cyber reviews and ensuring alignment with enterprise risk frameworks.
- Handling urgent requisitions and exceptions to avoid delays in critical projects.

- Understanding of high-assurance environments with strict compliance and audit requirements.
- Experience in cyber programmes supporting trading platforms, financial data systems, or regulatory reporting.
- Leadership in Cybersecurity Projects
- Leading initiatives like “Cyber Migration” or “Enterprise Assessment Migration” with strategic impact.
- Supporting roles like PSA (Project Security Advisor) and architecting secure solutions for high-profile stakeholders.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Working with PMO analysts, procurement teams, and external consultants to deliver outcomes under tight timelines.

Candidate Profile / Key Skills
Essential
- Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Project Manager working within Cyber Security and / or Cloud in large corporate environments.
- Understanding of high-assurance environments with strict compliance and audit requirements.
- Experience of managing agile projects.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written), as this role involves close partnership with Business and Technology stakeholders.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively across all organisational levels.
- Effective multi-tasking and time management skills.
Preferred
- Financial services experience.
- MSP, AGILE, ITIL or equivalent certification.
