The Challenge

Apply deep data engineering expertise to build and scale the next phase of Adobe’s personalization platform. As a Lead Data Engineer on the AUP team, this role helps define and deliver the data platform strategy supporting large-scale personalization, experimentation, and data science initiatives across Adobe.

This position owns and evolves enterprise-grade, cloud-native data and analytics platforms operating at significant scale and complexity, requiring strong architectural judgment and long-term thinking. The role collaborates closely with product, data science, ML, and infrastructure teams to solve ambiguous problems, influence technical direction, and build systems that meet Adobe’s scale and quality standards.

What you will do

  • Design and lead large-scale, secure, and reliable cloud data platforms
  • Own end-to-end data pipelines, including ingestion, transformation, governance, and consumption
  • Enable analytics, personalization, and activation using Adobe ecosystem tools (AEP, AJO, CJA)
  • Build and support production ML and GenAI data pipelines
  • Establish best practices for performance, cost efficiency, reliability, and observability
  • Partner across teams to translate business needs into scalable data solutions
  • Mentor engineers and influence technical direction across organizations

What you will need

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, including ownership of critical data systems
  • 5+ years of deep expertise in distributed data processing (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Hive)
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud-native data platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP, Databricks)
  • Strong experience with batch and streaming architectures (Kafka/Kinesis)
  • Expert-level SQL and data modeling skills
  • Experience with CI/CD, orchestration, and production data systems(Airflow), monitoring, and incident management
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

Nice to have

  • Prior experience defining data platform strategy for large organizations
  • Experience with enterprise data governance and cataloging tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation)
  • Familiarity with Adobe Experience Platform and customer data platforms
  • Experience with LLMs or GenAI-enabled data workflows
  • Open-source contributions
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $133,100 -- $236,400 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process. In California, the pay range for this position is $163,200 - $236,400

At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans.  Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
