As a Data Analyst Intern in Allianz Insurance Singapore's Data Office, you will support the delivery of strategic data solutions for both internal users (management and departments) and external users (brokers, financial advisors and agents). You will analyze and interpret data related to insurance policies, claims, risk and self-service, and collaborate with the Data Engineering and Architecture teams as well as all departments to gather requirements and produce data analyses, reports and models to support decision-making and create new data products. You will contribute to ensuring effective Data Governance and Data Management practices within the organization.

The incumbent will be part of the newly launched Data Office of Allianz Insurance Singapore and support the delivery of strategic data solutions that cater to the needs of both internal users, such as management and departments within the company, and external users, such as direct customers and intermediaries (Brokers, Financial Advisors and Agents).

 

As a Data Analyst intern your main responsibility will be to analyze and interpret data related to insurance policies, claims, risk assessment and self-service. You will work closely with the Data Engineering and Architecture team as well as all departments (Sales, Technical, Claims, Finance etc.) in the company to gather requirements and produce relevant data analysis, reports and models to support decision-making processes and create new data products. Additionally, you will contribute to ensuring effective Data Governance and Data Management practices within the organization.

 

Key Responsibility Areas:

 

  1. Data collection and processing: Collecting and organizing data from various sources such as insurance databases, reports, online traffic data and external sources. This may involve using SQL queries, Excel spreadsheets, VBA or specialized software, like Jupyter Notebook and Anaconda.
  2. Data analysis: Analysing data using statistical techniques and tools to identify patterns, trends, and correlations. This may include building and maintaining predictive models to assess risk, estimate claims frequency and severity, and evaluate policyholder behaviour.
  3. Quality assurance: Conducting data quality checks and ensuring data accuracy and integrity throughout the analysis process.
  4. Reporting and visualization: Creating clear and concise reports, charts, and visualizations to present data analysis findings to stakeholders within the company and outside (intermediaries). This may involve using tools such as Power BI or MicroStrategy.
  5. Data Governance: Assisting in establishing and maintaining Data Governance practices within the organization, including data quality management, data privacy compliance, and data security protocols.
  6. Data Management: Contributing to the development and implementation of Data Management strategies, including data acquisition, integration, transformation, and storage.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Pursuing a Masters degree in a relevant field such as mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, or data science.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis techniques and tools.
  • Knowledge of Data visualization tools such Power BI MicroStrategy.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as VBA, Python, or R.
  • Any AI-future skills e.g., ChatGPT, or CoPilot 365, will be an advantage to all job roles.
  • Understanding of Data Governance and Data Management principles and best practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate findings and insights.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • An understanding of insurance concepts and principles is a plus.
