Amazon Studios Data Operations turns scattered operational data into meaningful intelligence by building governed datasets and repeatable processes across Production, Post, Marketing, and Finance. As a Data Engineer II, you will model workflows, normalize metadata, and partner with business customers to deliver operational insights that improve visibility and decision-making. You’ll design SQL- and logic-based transformations, implement data validation and lineage tracking, and collaborate with BI engineers to define source-of-truth tables. This role thrives in ambiguous, high-impact environments where problem solving and collaboration are as important as code.

Amazon Studios Data Operations connects the dots across fragmented data and workflows to enable reliable, actionable insights. Sitting within Studio Strategy & Operations, our team builds the connective tissue that powers continuity and transparency across Production, Post, Marketing, and Finance.

We’re seeking a Data Engineer II who’s passionate about turning scattered operational data into structured, meaningful intelligence. You’ll work directly with Studio teams and our customers to model workflows, normalize metadata, and build mechanisms that improve visibility, trust, and decision-making.

This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in ambiguous, high-impact environments where problem-solving and collaboration are as important as code.


Key job responsibilities
• Translate complex, manual workflows into well-defined, governed datasets and repeatable processes.
• Design and implement SQL- and logic-based transformations that standardize and connect data across systems like Airtable, DataCore, and Continuum.
• Partner directly with business customers to understand pain points and design solutions that deliver operational insights.
• Build mechanisms for data validation, lineage tracking, and workflow health monitoring.
• Collaborate with BI engineers to define source-of-truth tables and support downstream analytics.
• Document data flows, transformations, and schema definitions to ensure transparency and reuse.
• Support automation initiatives to reduce manual reconciliation and reporting.

About the team
Studio Data Operations is the connective layer of Amazon Studios. We manage the systems, standards, and data flows that create continuity across Production, Post, and Finance. Our focus is not just on moving data, it’s on creating meaning, quality, and trust in how Studios measures and manages its operations.

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of data engineering experience
- 1+ years of developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using ETL/ELT processes experience
- 1+ years of developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using data modeling experience
- 1+ years of developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using SQL experience
- Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
- Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
