Lead the Automated Inventory Management (AIM) team within Amazon's SCOT to design and build scalable, low-latency distributed services that manage inventory plans for millions of items. You will guide engineers and technical program managers, make architecture and technology decisions, and deliver high-quality software at scale using Agile practices. This role emphasizes ownership, operational excellence, and security, while delivering solutions that handle thousands of requests per second. You will partner with product and finance to translate a long-term strategy into an achievable roadmap for settlement platforms.

The Ideal Candidate:
Must be technically credible to lead teams of world-class software engineers and technical program managers. Must be able to make the right design decisions related to product features and technology choices.
Expertise in Distributed computing Technologies, Designing scalable, low-latency, high-throughput, fault-tolerance systems dealing with real-time data will be a big advantage
Deep understanding of overall systems development life cycle including various methodologies (agile, waterfall, iterative)
Experienced in developing the long-term strategy for the settlement platforms and translate that into an achievable roadmap
Experienced in building and managing teams that design and deliver scalable and extensible distributed systems to address complex business challenges.
Understands how to scope and justify resources and budget needs to senior leaders and finance partners
Consistent focus on operational excellence and security of systems.
Experience with open source technologies, object-oriented design, and agile development methodologies
About the team
We are the AIM team under Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT). SCOT is the name of a complex group of systems designed to make the best decisions when it comes to forecasting, buying, placing, and shipping inventory. Functionally these teams work together to drive in-stock, drive placement, drive inventory removal and manage the customer experience.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
