AWS Professional Services II role in Dallas focuses on designing and delivering large-scale data solutions, including OLTP/OLAP environments, batch processing, and petabyte-scale data warehousing using services like RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, and Redshift. Position: Professional Services II (multiple positions available)
Location: Dallas, TX
Multiple Positions Available:
1. Focus on customer solutions involving high-volume, mission-critical OLTP/OLAP environments, batch data processing, and the design and deployment of future-state, petabyte-scale data warehouse services; build and/or design reference configurations to support customer needs and promote adoption of AWS services including RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, and Redshift.
2. Utilize customer-facing skills to represent AWS within customer environments and lead discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management, and risk mitigation.
3. Collaborate with AWS Platform Service Engineering and Architecture teams to support the success of project consulting engagements with customers.
4. Conduct solution design reviews and collaborative architecture sessions to ensure alignment with customer requirements and AWS architectural standards.
5. Work directly with customers’ technical resources to devise and recommend solutions based on clearly understood requirements.
6. Think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges in enterprise environments to inform solution design and implementation.
7. Analyze on-premises database environments such as Oracle, SQL Server, or other commercial database engines and support migrations to open-source engines like AuroraPostgreSQL/MySQL, Redshift, or DynamoDB.
8. Consult on optimal database environment design, analyze complex distributed production deployments, and provide recommendations to optimize performance.
9. Lead teams in architectural discussions and design exercises to create large-scale solutions built on AWS, and participate in the development lifecycle.
10. Drive technical sessions for internal teams, partners, and customers to share knowledge and promote AWS best practices.
11. Partner with sales teams to design customer solutions that drive AWS adoption and revenue, including pre-sales consulting, TCO analysis, and proposal development.
12. Develop innovative solutions to complex business and technology problems in alignment with Amazon’s customer-centric mission.
13. Travel domestically up to 25% to perform role responsibilities as needed.

Basic Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Science, Engineering, Math or related discipline followed by 5 years of progressively responsible experience in job offered or occupation related to database administration or data engineering.Experience must include:
• 5 years of DBA experience in Oracle, SQL Server, or other commercial/open source database platforms.
• 5 years of experience in migrating mission critical database environments from one platform to another.
• 5 years of experience working with high availability, disaster recovery and server tuning strategies including parameters, resources, contention, etc.
• 5 years of experience in Shell/Perl/Python Scripting.
• 5 years of experience in writing procedural language artifacts: PL/SQL, T-SQL, PL/pgSQL, stored procedures.
• 5 years of experience with Custom/COTS Applications and their implementation/maintenance.
