The Software Development Engineer will design, code, and deliver large-scale, multi-tiered software applications and tools. The role emphasizes data munging, SQL, ETL, and data pipelines, with a focus on architecture and engineering excellence. This position is with Amazon's IES SSD team, driving speed-focused innovation at scale.

We are looking for a passionate, hard-working, and talented Software Development Engineer who can build innovative & mission critical system software applications & tools. You will have an enormous opportunity to make a large impact on the design, architecture, and development of consumer products. You will be responsible for delivery and support of large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software applications and tools.

Key job responsibilities
· Ability to design and code right solutions starting with broadly defined problems.

· Drive best practices and engineering excellence.
· Work with other team members to develop the architecture and design of new and current systems.

Basic Qualifications

- 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 4+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 2+ years of big data technologies such as AWS, Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive, Lucene/SOLR or Storm/Samza experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

- 4+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
