We are looking for Sr SDEs with good technical knowledge, established background in engineering large scale software systems, and passion for solving challenging problems. The role demands a high-performing and flexible candidate who can take responsibility for success of the system and drive solutions from design to coding, testing, and deployment, to achieve results in a fast paced environment.
The Sr SDE on this team will be playing a key role in solving complex problems and building innovative solutions to drive selection on Amazon platform. Candidate needs to have a high sense of ownership, ability to develop end to end solutions and improve customer experience. This role would expose you to solving problems of scale in the areas of data mining, artificial intelligence, big data and distributed systems of cloud-scale.
Key job responsibilities
As a Senior SDE on this team, you will:
- Drive Architectural Vision: Partner with Principal Engineers and senior leadership to define and evolve the technical and architectural strategy for Selection Monitoring systems responsible for extraction and generation of structured domain entities from structured/semi-structured data at global scale.
- Lead Cross-Team Initiatives: Own and drive complex, multi-quarter initiatives that span across multiple teams and organizations, ensuring alignment on technical approach, timelines, and deliverables.
- Design Scalable Systems: Architect and champion the development of highly scalable, extensible frameworks for complete lifecycle management of domain entities and inter-entity relationships, setting the technical direction for the team.
- Solve Complex Technical Challenges: Lead the resolution of the most complex problems in automated identity generation, web-to-Amazon namespace translation, and classification of products, establishing best practices and reusable patterns.
- Innovate Storage and Retrieval Solutions: Lead the architectural design and development of innovative solutions for efficient storage, vending, and search of products and related information across distributed systems.
- Provide Technical Leadership: Mentor SDE2s and establish engineering excellence standards, and drive best practices around system design, architecture patterns, operational excellence, and security across multiple teams.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
