Barclays is seeking a Data Engineer to build and maintain data infrastructures, including pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes, ensuring data is accurate, accessible and secure. The role involves evolving infrastructure and deployment pipelines, developing processing and analysis algorithms, and collaborating with data scientists to deploy ML models. Key technologies include Python, RESTful APIs, Oracle/SQL, Linux/Bash, GenAI/LLM integration, and data masking/synthetic data techniques. The position is based in Pune and may include team leadership and cross-functional collaboration at an Assistant Vice President level.

To be successful as a Data Engineer, you should have experience with
Backend: Python (Django/Flask/FastAPI), RESTful APIs
Frontend: React/Angular/Vue.js, JavaScript, HTML5/CSS3
Database: Oracle, Advanced SQL, PL/SQL
Unix/Shell: Linux commands, Bash scripting, automation
Gen AI: Prompt engineering, LLM API integration, RAG basics
Practices: GitLab, Agile, testing
Understanding of Data Masking and Anonymisation techniques.
Experience with algorithms for Synthetic Data Generation.
Competence in Data Modelling and schema design.
Awareness of data privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
Some other highly valued skills may include:
Familiarity with test data management tools such as Delphix, K2View, GenRocket, Synthesized etc.
Ability to integrate with CI/CD pipelines and Git workflow
SonarQube for code quality
Understanding of cloud platforms.
Ability to work in agile environments

Purpose of the role
To build and maintain the systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate, accessible, and secure.
Accountabilities
- Build and maintenance of data architectures pipelines that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete and consistent data.
- Design and implementation of data warehoused and data lakes that manage the appropriate data volumes and velocity and adhere to the required security measures.
- Development of processing and analysis algorithms fit for the intended data complexity and volumes.
- Collaboration with data scientist to build and deploy machine learning models.
