Senior Data Engineer – AVP role focused on first line of defence for derivative trading, ensuring trade integrity, regulatory compliance and operational resilience. Provides strategic oversight of trade validation and lifecycle management, partnering with Front Office, clients, technology and infrastructure to enforce robust controls and timely execution. Responsible for end-to-end trade lifecycle oversight, risk ownership, audit remediation, and maintaining control adequacy across the GMO control catalogue, with a focus on timely identification and remediation of issues. Based in Chennai.
Step into the role of AVP acts as the first line of defence, ensuring trade integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational resilience across all derivative products. The role provides strategic oversight of trade validation and trade lifecycle management, partnering closely with Front Office, clients, Technology, and Infrastructure teams to enforce robust controls and deliver timely, accurate execution.
You may be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in role such as:
Provide oversight of the end-to-end trade lifecycle, from booking through settlement, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and policy adherence
Ensure internal trade validation within internal Desk/entities to mitigate operational and financial risk mitigate operational and financial risk.
Act as first line risk owner, enforcing SLAs and maintaining audit ready processes.
Ensure all trade exceptions are identified, investigated, challenged, and resolved in line with policy and risk appetite.
Perform periodic control reviews and due diligence to proactively identify and remediate control gaps.
Ensure all audit findings and risk incidents are remediated within agreed deadlines.
Own completeness and accuracy of controls within the GMO control catalogue, ensuring robust assessment through the annual RCSA cycle.
Desirable skills set:
Strong understanding of derivative products across asset classes, including Rates, Equities, Structured and Exotic products.
Prior exposure to Middle Office Operations, Sales Support, or Product Control.
Experience driving automation and strategic change in complex operational environments.
Strong risk and control mindset, with experience owning audits, RCSAs, and remediation plans.
Ability to manage high pressure environments and tight deadlines with accuracy and ownership.
Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong team player, self-starter with positive attitude

Purpose of the role
To support business areas with day-to-day processing, reviewing, reporting, trading and issue resolution.
Accountabilities
- Support various business areas with day-to-day initiatives including processing, reviewing, reporting, trading, and issue resolution.
- Collaboration with teams across the bank to align and integrate operational processes.
- Identification of areas for improvement and providing recommendations in operational processes.
- Development and implementation of operational procedures and controls to mitigate risks and maintain operational efficiency.
- Development of reports and presentations on operational performance and communicate findings to internal senior stakeholders.
- Identification of industry trends and developments to implement best practice in banking operations.
- Participation in projects and initiatives to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
