The Opportunity:

As a Data Governance and Standards Specialist, you understand that to drive insights with data, organizations need data and processes to be well-governed. With the abundance of structured and unstructured data, you understand the challenges of enabling organizations to leverage complex datasets while protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the data. As a Data Governance and Standards Specialist at Booz Allen, you can use your skills and experience to support a mission and use data for good. We need a Data Governance and Standards Specialist like you to bring your knowledge to empower meaningful use of complex high-throughput data for public health betterment.

As a client-facing data analyst on our Health team, you’ll work closely with your clients to understand their questions and needs and then leverage your keen understanding of data governance principles and data standards to accelerate and enable their data projects. Not only will you provide a deep understanding of their data, but you’ll also advise your client on what the information means and how it can be used to make an impact on our client’s overall public health mission. This position is located in Atlanta, GA.

What You’ll Work On:

  • Develop and implement data standards to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and translate them into data policies.
  • Analyze data and business processes to identify gaps and inconsistencies in data standards and policies.
  • Monitor compliance with data standards and policies and report on performance.
  • Utilize project management skills to support documentation needs, run collaboration meetings, ensure action items are tracked, and translate feedback into written policy and implementation plans.

You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience in IT project delivery or project management
  • Experience with data governance principles, data privacy, and data protection
  • Experience with data sharing agreements and records management
  • Knowledge of regulations, requirements, and guidance associated with health or public health data standards
  • Ability to translate complex topics into actionable requirements
  • Ability to quickly grasp and implement new concepts, frameworks, and technologies
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively prioritize and plan workload to meet deadlines
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience drafting or providing input on the development of organizational policies and SOPs related to data and data governance
  • Experience with data transmission standards, including HL7 and FHIR, ensuring effective data exchange
  • Experience with the CDC’s data modernization initiative
  • Experience with CDC data policies and standards, including data authority, interoperability, and modernization
  • Knowledge of coordinating with constraints that state and local health departments are under regarding data collection and data sharing
  • Knowledge of data management best practices, including those published by the Data Management Association (DAMA) or Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI)
  • Possession of excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Possession of excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Privacy, Risk, or Governance Certification such as CIPP-US, DAMA CDMP Associate or Practitioner, or GRCP Certification

The projected compensation range for this position is $77,500.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
