The Opportunity:  

As a data governance specialist, you love helping others start their data governance journey. With the abundance of structured and unstructured data, you understand the importance of introducing rules, processes, and accountability that allow an organization to better manage the availability, usability, security, and integrity of their data. As a data governance specialist at Booz Allen, you can use your skills and experience to support a mission and use data for good. We need a specialist like you to bring your knowledge to empower the meaningful use of complex high-throughput data for public health betterment.  

As a client-facing governance specialist on our Health team, you’ll work closely with your clients to understand their questions and needs and then dig into their data-rich environments to find the pieces of their information puzzle. Not only will you provide a deep understanding of the current state of their data governance journey, but you’ll also advise your client on how to bring maturity to their program and have the skills to bring the ideas to life.  

How You’ll Contribute:  

As a data governance specialist on our team, you’ll:  

  • Provide guidance on best practices for setting up a data governance strategy that enables a centralized decision-making framework  

  • Analyze existing enterprise data standards and policies to ensure compliance for data governance strategy 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional delivery team and senior leaders to understand data needs and assist with translating them into data governance practices  

  • Assist with developing a data policy life cycle that will generate efficient decision-making and that can be leveraged for rapid responses  

  • Advise and review cross-functional delivery team work to ensure that processes developed are implemented effectively and correctly  

  • Support sessions to identify gaps and inconsistencies in data standards and policies 

  • Develop KPI to measure program maturity and implementation of data governance strategy 

  • Support project management tasks to document needs, collaborate in meetings, ensure action items are tracked, and translate feedback into written policy and implementation plans.

You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience in a data governance role

  • 1+ year of experience in a public health or healthcare setting 

  • Experience with requirements gathering, performing gap analysis and process improvement recommendations 

  • Experience advising cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with data governance and data standards best practices   

  • Experienced in collaborating with senior leaders to communicate needs aligned to programmatic gaps  

  • Knowledge of Data Use Agreements (DUAs) or Data Sharing Agreements 

  • Ability to generate products with limited guidance 

  • Ability to lead teams to assure completion of scoped work  

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree 

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with data transmission standards, including HL7 and FHIR 

  • Experience with data standards governance  

  • Experience with multiple data catalogs 

  • Knowledge of data management maturity models 

  • Possession of excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills  

  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $77,500.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
