You will implement data quality standards, controls across systems of record, and collaborate with source data, Data Engineering, and business analysts to transport, transform, and integrate data into software packages for customer use. Responsibilities include metadata management, data governance policy input, root-cause analysis of data quality issues, and ensuring data requirements are followed to populate and transpose data between software packages. The role supports regulatory/compliance efforts and requires up to 10% travel; the position is a hybrid office/remote role in Pune, India.

The Data Steward applies practitioner level knowledge of a business domain to curate and validate accuracy and security of our data which is required to drive compliance, safety and business critical decision making. They are responsible for implementing technical changes and controls across systems of record, working with source and Data Engineering teams to help transport, transform and integrate data into key software packages for our customers consumer usage. They are responsible for implementing the data quality standards and set requirements to populate systems of record, including Input quality checks on received data and providing technical insights into treating, remediating and maintaining data definitions incl data dictionaries.
Act as a custodian of end-to-end data configuration quality checks validating data integrity, consistency, and compliance across the organization, prioritizing safety and operational efficiency for the business.
· Provide input to help create, amend, and implement data governance policies, standards, and regulations; participate in improvement of these based on business need.
· Assess, report on and resolve data quality issues through root cause analysis and remediation planning. Ensure that data, documents and models represent the physical reality of our assets.
· Responsible for assuring data requirements are followed to populate systems of record and transpose data between package software, including Input quality checks on received data to assure completeness.
· Work closely with subject area engineers, data engineers, system engineers, and business analysts to ensure high-quality, standardized data.
· Support business users by providing guidance on issue resolution, data quality, data usage, permissions/access needs, and policies.
· Implement technical changes and controls across systems of record and communicate planned changes to the data owners
· Assist in metadata management, ensuring all critical datasets are accurately collected.
· Facilitate collaboration between business and technology teams to improve data literacy and governance.
· Support regulatory and compliance efforts related to data privacy, security, and access control.
What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications)
Essential:
· Bachelor’s degree in either Petroleum, Process Engineering or equivalent oil & gas experience
· 2+ years’ experience working in Oil & Gas
· Solid grasp of data governance frameworks, master data management principles, policies, and compliance.
· Ability to work with business subject area engineers and technical teams to resolve data quality issues.
· Good communication and documentation skills.
· Analytical mentality with a solid focus on data accuracy and process improvement.
Desired:
· Proficiency in AVEVA PI AF and Powershell, SQL, Python, Juypter notebook and ability to work with large datasets.
· Familiarity with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
· Experience with data governance tools.
· 2+ years’ experience working in Palantir products.
