ROLE SYNOPSIS
Architecture is a collaborative field, and it plays a critical role in the integration of our businesses. Architects connect all the digital subject areas and the consumers and procurers of IT, in order to create an integrated, flexible, effective IT architecture for bp.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Architecture: Rigorously develop solution architectures, seeking practical solutions that optimize and re-use capabilities. You will be responsible for building technical designs of services or applications and will care passionately about the integrity of the Digital capabilities you develop.
- Technology: You are an excellent technologist and have a passion for understanding and learning. You will chip in to digital transformation initiatives from an architectural perspective, facilitating the delivery of solutions. You will bring good hands-on skills in key technologies, and an ability to rapidly assess new technologies with a commercial outlook!
- Safety and Compliance: The safety of our people and customers is our highest priority. You will advocate and help ensure our architectures, designs and processes enhance a culture of operational safety and improve our digital security.
- Team: Lead several delivery teams directly or by influence. You will play an integral role in building the team’s skills while demonstrating your leadership values through delegation, motivation and trust. Your work will be judged not just based on your personal contributions but also on the success of your teams.
- Relationships: Build strong relationships across the business and Digital teams. You will understand the long-term needs of the solutions you are developing, and enable delivery by building a rapport with team members both inside and outside of bp.
- Business Area: This role is part of the Technology Digital Core organization shaping and supporting the digital technology which underpins bp’s People, Communications and Culture (PC&C) area. You will design solutions in partnership with P&C (HR) leaders and delivery teams to facilitate the continuing process transformation of HR within bp.
FORMAL EDUCATION
Bachelor's (or higher) degree, ideally in Computer Science, MIS/IT, Mathematics, hard science, or similar work experience.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS / CRITERIA
- At least 12 years' experience developing or configuring or building integrations with HR and Payroll systems which includes 5 years of experience with Workday as this solution is core at bp.At least one formal Certification in Workday
- Experience in both Development and Operations (DevOps) support areas
- Experience in large-scale implementations, roll outs and migration projects for complex environments. Shown analytics skills and ability to glean information from data, including hands on experience in building reports, dashboards, and metrics using tools such as SQL and Power BI.
- A good understanding of the SaaS ecosystem in HR domains
- Experience in leading digital security, data privacy, and regulatory compliance within a global enterprise. Strong commercial foresight with a track record of driving cost optimisation and supplier accountabilities. Skills in customer management, multi-functional coordination, and agile delivery
- Experience with Agile or Scrum methodology. Familiar with unit testing, UAT, and cutover planning. Strong customer management and ability to lead initiatives through technical and interpersonal influence. Grasp of architecture development (TOGAF 9 certified) and design thinking in an agile environment.
- Experience with building, gaining business alignment and documenting product roadmaps. Communication skills to drive documentation standards for technical documentation across the P&C portfolio

DESIRABLE SKILLS / CRITERIA
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and advance IT tools – e.g., Salesforce, Service Now, Microsoft ADO, and Wiz (Microsoft Software patching management). SAP experience is a plus.
