Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Ab Initio Developer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementing robust and efficient ETL solutions using the Ab Initio suite of products. This role requires deep expertise in data warehousing concepts, structured and unstructured databases, and a strong background in hands-on development. The Senior Ab Initio Developer will play a crucial role in enhancing our data processing capabilities, ensuring data quality, and supporting critical business intelligence initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • ETL Development: Design, develop, test, and implement complex ETL processes using Ab Initio GDE, Co>Operating System, EME, and other related tools (e.g., Continuous Flows, Metadata Hub, Data Quality).
  • Database Management: Work extensively with various database technologies, including structured relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, DB2) and non-structured databases (e.g., NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Cassandra, Hadoop HDFS).
  • Data Analysis & Design: Collaborate with data architects, business analysts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements, define source-to-target mappings, and design optimal data models and ETL solutions.
  • Performance Tuning: Optimize Ab Initio graphs and SQL queries for maximum performance and efficiency, ensuring timely data loads and availability.
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Provide expert-level support for production ETL processes, troubleshoot data-related issues, and resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Code Review & Best Practices: Conduct code reviews, ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and enterprise architectural guidelines. Mentor junior developers.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, data flow diagrams, and operational runbooks.
  • Data Quality & Governance: Implement data quality checks and contribute to data governance initiatives to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • 8+ years of extensive experience in ETL development, with a significant focus on Ab Initio.
    • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Ab Initio GDE, Co>Operating System, EME, and related components (e.g., Express>It, Batch Graphs, Continuous Flows).
    • Strong experience with SQL and proficiency in relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, etc.).
    • Demonstrated experience working with unstructured data sources and technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, NoSQL databases).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in shell scripting (Unix/Linux) for automation and job orchestration.
    • Expertise in data warehousing concepts, Kimball methodologies, and dimensional modeling.
    • Experience with performance tuning of ETL processes and database queries.
    • Familiarity with job scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M, Autosys).
    • Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and metadata management principles.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud-based data solutions.
  • Knowledge of Big Data technologies like Spark, Hive, Kafka.
  • Familiarity with other ETL tools or data integration platforms.
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
  • Ab Initio certification.
