        The D. E. Shaw group seeks a talented data engineering and reporting analyst to join its Human Capital Analytics and Products (HCAP) team. Members of HCAP are curators of employee data and leverage it to help answer strategic and operational talent questions for leaders across the business. This role will focus on the technical and operational aspects of the team’s compensation reporting infrastructure, supporting the maintenance and enhancement of key analytics tools. The position offers the opportunity to work in a collegial, engaging environment, with the potential to take on more advanced analytics and data science projects over time.

        What you’ll do day-to-day

        • Expand HCAP’s automated analytics portfolio by developing novel reporting solutions, primarily using Python. 
        • Develop dashboards for the firm’s senior leadership and build other reporting products from the ground up, contributing to the ETL pipelines and infrastructure initiatives.
        • Maintain and update Python packages that underpin the team’s reporting and analytics capabilities, ensuring codebases remain robust and well-documented. 
        • Help troubleshoot technical issues, contribute to process improvements, and support the ongoing evolution of the team’s reporting infrastructure. 
        • Use Git and GitHub to manage code repositories, track changes, and facilitate collaborative development and code review processes. 
        • Conduct ad hoc analyses to address operational and strategic questions, collaborating closely with colleagues across Human Capital and related teams. 

        Who we’re looking for

        • Use Git and GitHub to manage code repositories, track changes, and facilitate collaborative development and code review processes.
        • Conduct ad hoc analyses to address operational and strategic questions, collaborating closely with colleagues across Human Capital and related teams.
        • The expected annual base salary for this position is $135,000 to $160,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
