Job Title: Senior Data Engineering Specialist

The Opportunity

As a Senior Data Engineering Specialist, you will play a critical role in architecting, building, and managing scalable data platforms that enable analytics, reporting, and advanced data use cases across the organization. You will work closely with business, analytics, and technology stakeholders to ensure high-quality, secure, and performant data solutions. Your strong SQL expertise, deep database management experience, and end-to-end data engineering skill set will directly support data-driven decision-making and business transformation.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance data pipelines using modern data engineering practices.
  • Lead the development and optimization of complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models to support analytics and reporting needs.
  • Manage and optimize relational and non-relational databases, ensuring data integrity, availability, and performance.
  • Architect and maintain data warehouses, data lakes, and lakehouse solutions to support structured and semi-structured data.
  • Implement data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration frameworks for batch and near–real-time processing.
  • Ensure data quality by defining validation rules, monitoring data pipelines, and implementing reconciliation and error-handling mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with analytics, data science, and business teams to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Apply best practices for data governance, metadata management, lineage, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with data security, privacy, and regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, information security policies).
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and proactively optimize cost, reliability, and scalability.
  • Mentor junior data engineers and provide technical leadership across projects.
  • Stay current with emerging data engineering technologies, tools, and industry trends.

 

Skills and Attributes for Success

  • Strong hands-on experience in data engineering with a proven track record of delivering enterprise-scale solutions.
  • Advanced SQL expertise, including performance tuning and query optimization.
  • Deep experience in database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and exposure to NoSQL databases.
  • Deep experience with relevant Microsoft Azure tools to create and managed databases and workflows
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and analytics engineering best practices.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT tools, data integration frameworks, and workflow orchestration.
  • Working knowledge of cloud-based data platforms and modern data ecosystems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to design pragmatic and scalable solutions.
  • Experience working with APIs and data-sharing mechanisms across systems.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to lead workstreams in cross-functional, distributed teams.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term platform sustainability.
