FactSet's Realtime Marketdata Engineering team builds and maintains low-latency data delivery systems for real-time and intraday content. The role focuses on designing and developing delivery mechanisms for large data sets in realtime, building tools and web-apps to operate on content from multiple sources, and coordinating with product management. You will own production releases, respond to outages, and contribute to technical design, code reviews, and coaching of junior engineers. The position emphasizes independent delivery in a deadline-driven environment and working on scalable data pipelines and backend services.

Your Team's Impact  

Realtime Marketdata Engineering is responsible for integration of all real time or intraday content at FactSet. This includes real time stock exchange feeds as well as real time reference data , OTC and End of the day Prices. This data is delivered to our clients for use within the FactSet Workstation or other internal applications. Realtime Marketdata Engineering has a global presence across multiple regions.  

 

Pricing team is responsible for  Building and developing robust , low latency , resilient delivery mechanism of Reference data and End of the Prices across all the content data sets.

What You'll Do  

  •  Design , Architect and develop delivery mechanism of large data sets in Realtime. 
  • Develop and maintain tools/web-apps to operate on huge data content fetched from different content sets 
  • Work closely with product development team and Product management 
  • Work independently and deliver in a deadline focused environment
  • Design and develop low latency , resilient system and services 
  • Manage production releases, bug fixes and respond to outages in a time critical fashion 
  • Participate in peer code reviews, maintaining project/operational documentation and help with training/coaching of less experienced team members 
  • 20-30% Responsible for planning and performing all assigned jobs in an efficient manner without guidance
  • 15-20% Successfully completes multi-step projects with less-well-defined problem definitions
  • 10-15% Leads distinct engineering projects independently
  • 10-15% Contributes in a technical design capacity within their project area
  • 5-10% Acts as a resource to others; collaborates effectively with other engineers and cross-functional teammates
  • 5-10% Communicates effectively with project stakeholder

 

What We're Looking For  

  • 5+ years of software development experience using Python.

  • Hands‑on experience with large datasets, data modeling, data lakes, or data engineering workflow.

  • Strong expertise in AWS services (breadth preferred over depth, given evolving architecture).

  • Experience designing scalable data pipelines or backend systems

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science required

  • Strong technical, analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

  • Experience building and deploying production level services across large scale distributed systems using

  • Knowledge of advanced programming techniques (Low Latency, Resiliency, Network Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms, Memory Management and File Management

  • Able to analyze, plan, design, coordinate and supervise the development of software systems

  • Demonstrates knowledge of how their projects impact FactSet’s products and clients

  • Demonstrates good development practices and self-reliance

  • Possesses depth of knowledge of real time and high-frequency trading systems, as well as knowledge of financial instruments and market dynamic to design software that meets the specific needs of trading environments

  • Highly proficient with development environment and tools,

  • Has demonstrated success with increasingly difficult technical projects.
