As an Inside Systems Engineering Intern, you will consolidate data from multiple systems into a single Power BI data model and develop dynamic dashboards to support reporting and decision-making. Fortinet has an exciting internship opportunity for you to join our  systems engineering team and contribute to multiple projects. You will play a key role in enhancing the effectiveness of our internal project management product by leveraging Power BI to create dynamic dashboards, reports, and visualizations. Your work will help streamline reporting capabilities, providing valuable insights to different user groups and improving overall decision-making. You’ll be responsible for consolidating data from multiple systems (such as Salesforce, our internal Service Request database, etc.) into a single Power BI data model, which will serve as the foundation for creating powerful reports.

Key Responsibilities: 

Build a Strong Data Foundation: 

Develop a Power BI data model that follows database best practices, integrating data from multiple external sources. 

Enhance Reporting Capabilities: 

Create interactive Power BI dashboards to track quarterly metrics, project summaries, and key performance indicators. 

Design region-specific dashboards to provide localized insights for different geographical teams. 

Generate detailed project management reports to monitor project progress, identify risks, and assess outcomes. 

Create year-over-year comparison graphs and dashboards to track historical trends and performance. 

Identify and generate reports highlighting areas for improvement in project management, such as delays, incorrect data entries (e.g., SFID values), or unresponsiveness from stakeholders. 

Improve Decision-Making: 

Visualize complex data to uncover trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for operational improvements. 

Customize dashboards and reports to provide actionable insights tailored to different stakeholders, helping them make data-driven decisions. 

Streamline Data Processes: 

Centralize data into a single Power BI data model to ensure consistent and secure access for users. 

Consolidate reporting efforts within Power BI, reducing the need for manual report generation and minimizing errors. 

Enable regular updates to dashboards and reports for real-time monitoring, forecasting, and planning. 

Skills & Qualifications: 

Familiarity with Power BI, including building data models and creating dashboards/reports. 

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

Quick learner with a proactive and positive attitude. 

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively. 

Educational Requirements: 

Diploma of Technology, or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
