The Associate – Data Retention and Destruction will manage and govern HR and Employee Experience data retention and destruction programs for JPMorgan Chase's workforce data. The role includes day-to-day DRD activities and remediation across data stores (shared drives, SharePoint, applications, and physical records), maintaining governance dashboards and inventories, and producing executive status reports. The associate will lead projects, drive process improvements, train and engage data stewards, and document procedures to ensure compliance with firmwide data management policies. This position requires strong analytic and communication skills and at least five years' experience in data governance or related fields.

The Human Resources(HR) and Employee Experience(EX) Global Data Management department, under the direction of the HR EX Chief Data Officer, owns data management, data programs, reporting and advanced analytics related to the workforce data for the 314,000+ employees of JPMorgan Chase.  The HR EX Global Data Management department is responsible for the management of workforce data including the data governance, data classification, data quality, data retention, data destruction, data protection and data storage to help ensure appropriateness and data integrity across all uses of workforce data.

The Associate – Data Retention and Destruction(DRD) is responsible for driving and governing Data retention and destruction program delivery of HR and EX Organizations aligned to the overall implementation of the Firmwide Data Management (FDM) Policies and Standards. The associate will work closely with HR EX’s Data Management, the Firmwide Data Management group, Workforce Technology teams and Controls to advance the firm’s data management agenda. This position requires a critical thinker with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest data standards.

 

Job responsibilities

  • Manage and support data retention and destruction BAU activities for HR and EX functions.
  • Engage in DRD remediation for HR EX data stores, including shared drives, SharePoint sites, applications, and physical records.
  • Organize and facilitate regular calls, training, and ad hoc sessions with data stewards/champions to provide support, raise awareness, and track program progress.
  • Prepare presentation materials for steward meetings to communicate key updates.
  • Manage timely updates to steward/champion assignments to ensure accurate metrics.
  • Lead projects, maintain project plans, and drive process improvements in line with Firmwide Global Data Risk Management policies and Data Retention/Destruction procedures.
  • Track progress, capture metrics, and create executive status reports for all organizational levels.
  • Maintain governance dashboards and inventories, proactively remediating issues using Alteryx and Tableau.
  • Document processes and procedures to provide clear guidance to HR EX teams.

 

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree or a related field or equivalent experience. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data retention, data governance, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of data retention principles.
  • Advanced analytic and problem-solving skills, including business process and root cause analysis, solution identification, and interpret various input, build requirements, and partner to solve business problems
  • Advanced proficiency with SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and MS Teams.
  • Experience with reporting platform products like Alteryx, and Tableau
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal). Ability to communicate business and technical concepts to both expert and novice audiences, and to all levels of the organization
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability

 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Knowledge of Human Resources practices and processes preferred, but not required
  • Global stakeholder management experience, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Proven ability to develop strategies and solution roadmaps with a risk-based approach to prioritization and problem solving
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment preferred
