Senior software engineer role within Corporate Risk Technology responsible for designing and delivering secure, scalable data platforms and services. Hands-on development in Java and Python, building production-quality code, large-scale data processing, and data architecture. Work on cloud-native solutions and modern data technologies (Spark, Databricks/Snowflake, Kafka) in an Agile team with strong focus on observability and CI/CD. As a Software Engineer III at JP Morgan Chase within the Corporate Risk Technology, you serve as a seasoned member of an Agile Engineering & Architecture team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Job responsibilities
- Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
- Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
- Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
- Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
- Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and applied experience.
- Proficiency in Data Engineering & Architecture, AI/ML with hands-on experience in designing, implementing, testing, and ensuring the operational stability of large-scale enterprise platforms and solutions
- Advanced in one or more programming language(s) eg. Java, Python , C/C++, C#
- Working knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases and data lake architectures
- Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code (preferably in a large corporate environment) with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages with good overlap of application & DB.
- Experience in large scale data processing, using micro services, API design, Kafka, Redis, MemCached, Observability (Dynatrace , Splunk, Grafana or similar), Orchestration (Airflow, Temporal)
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
- Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
- Practical cloud native experience
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience with modern data technologies such as Databricks or Snowflake.
- Hands-on experience with Spark/PySpark and other big data processing technologies
- Knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
