As a Senior Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the regulatory capital and reporting ecosystem, you will combine deep hands‑on technical expertise with strategic leadership to transform the firm’s regulatory capital and reporting ecosystem.

Operating at the intersection of technology, regulatory transformation, design leadership, and senior stakeholder influence, you will translate complex regulatory expectations into precise architectural direction while challenging existing practices to accelerate modernization. You will define the engineering strategy for high‑integrity platforms supporting capital computation, regulatory submissions, and supervisory compliance; modernize legacy processes through cloud‑native redesign, automated data lineage, and AI‑driven controls; and communicate with clarity through executive‑grade materials and evidence‑based challenge that drives strategic, enterprise‑wide change

Job responsibilities

 

  • Provides visionary leadership and strategic direction for the development and delivery of multiple products, applications, and technologies within a dynamic portfolio.
  • Serve as a hands‑on engineering leader, guiding design patterns, coding standards, architecture decisions, and platform best practices.
  • Innovates and architects cutting-edge software solutions, spearheading the creation of robust production code and empowering cross-functional teams to achieve technical excellence.
  • Translates complex technical challenges, emerging trends, and innovative approaches into actionable insights for senior leadership, driving the firm’s technology strategy and enabling informed, forward-thinking decisions.
  • Champions the adoption of advanced technical methodologies and best practices, ensuring alignment with the latest product development standards and fostering continuous improvement.
  • Designs and implements scalable, reusable software frameworks that enhance efficiency and collaboration across diverse teams and business functions.
  • Builds strong partnerships across business, product, and technology groups, effectively influencing and managing relationships with senior stakeholders to achieve shared goals.

     

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

 

  • Tenured technologist operating within the Financial and Technology domains for 15+ years
  • Directly manage and provide high-level direction to teams working on cloud-native solutions (e.g., Databricks), microservices, and user interface experiences
  • Deep understanding of software engineering best practices, system design, testing, and operational stability. 
  • Hands-on experience in Basel implementations, regulatory transformations, and advanced technologies like Gen AI. 
  • Proven experience leading large or cross-functional teams of technologists in a highly matrixed, complex organization.
  • Experience preparing C-suite materials and communicating complex technical concepts to executive audiences.

 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages 
  • Knowledge of Basel regulations and the financial regulatory sector


 

Direct multiple technical areas, manage the activities of multiple departments, and collaborate across technical domains
