Join LSEG’s Observability platform team in Bucharest as a Senior Observability & Event Intelligence Engineer focusing on Datadog and related tools. You will help build and manage the Observability platform, enforce governance, and deliver self-service onboarding, automation, and integrations with OpenTelemetry. You’ll implement and optimize features, IaC provisioning with Terraform and Python, and collaborate with cloud, tooling, application, and operations teams to improve reliability and cost efficiency. This role requires extensive experience and involves L3 support, vendor liaison, and roadmap development for observability capabilities across hundreds of apps.

Role profile & Summary:

We are investing in observability and event intelligence at LSEG and want you to be part of it! As a key player in our Observability organization, you’ll help us deliver reliable, intuitive tools that help engineering teams to deliver their best work. As we work to embed observability as a core practice across the organization, we’re looking for someone who will collaboratively participate in this pursuit.

  • In this role, you'll be joining our Observability platform team within I&C Digital Operations, as a Senior Observability & Event Intelligence Engineer focusing on Datadog and/or other observability tools within our Observability team in Bucharest (Romania).

  • This team builds and manages the LSEG’s Observability platform, work with all Cloud platform teams, Tooling teams, Application teams and Operations teams to understand the requirements, refine it, prepare strategic, standardized, and cost optimized way to develop new features and deploy to production as quickly as possible for application teams to use.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Enforce governance, standards, and platform reliability.

  • Control identity, access, and RBAC policies.

  • Connect workflows with change, incident, and problem management.

  • Assess and implement new features, costs, and risks.

  • Deliver self-service onboarding, offboarding, and use cases.

  • Manage platform limits and enforce guardrails.

  • Provide L3 support and advanced troubleshooting.

  • Bridge vendor engineers with internal technical teams.

  • Develop and implement features for LSEG’s Observability platform.

  • Implement and integrate OpenTelemetry (OTEL) for standardized instrumentation, distributed tracing, and metrics collection

  • Deploy and configure SaaS platforms including Datadog, BigPanda, Cribl, Splunk, and ServiceNow integrations

  • Standardize and automate processes to enhance efficiency and adherence to modern SDLC practices.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to integrate with systems, platforms, and tools, developing SOPs for support.

  • Automate provisioning and integration using Infra as Code practices with Terraform, Python, and Rest APIs.

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for platform feature delivery.

  • Explore new observability products, conduct proof of concepts, and create roadmaps for implementation.

  • Optimize the usage and cost of the Observability platform by strategizing with platform and application teams.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • 10 12 years of experience in Technology Development with robust exposure to cloud environments.

  • 2 – 3 years’ experience with observability platforms (Datadog, Splunk, Dynatrace or a similar product).

  • Experience implementing and supporting open-source systems (ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, Vector, Jaeger)

  • Hands-on familiarity with SaaS platforms: Datadog, BigPanda, Splunk, ServiceNow integrations

  • Strong proficiency in GitLab, Terraform, Python, CI/CD and shell scripting.

  • Good understanding of ITSM, ITIL, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.

  • Proven expertise in developing monitoring standards, logging standards, and observability standards scalable across hundreds of application teams in a cost optimized manner.

  • Strong cloud knowledge, particularly in Azure followed by AWS.

  • Experience with platforms like New Relic, Grafana-Prometheus is also beneficial.

  • Demonstrable experience in integrating systems, metrics, logs and applications with monitoring and APM tools, and building real-time dashboards and analytics.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS:

  • Professional qualification or equivalent in Cloud Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Strong collaboration and communications skills are essential for collaborating with various internal teams and stakeholders.
