Your Impact

The QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey Immersion Program creates a great opportunity to assess your potential and provide the opportunity to understand if a career in technical consulting is something that you want to pursue after graduation from university.
During the program, you will typically join a client engagement and can contribute to the development of one of our products or R&D project if the opportunity arises. The client engagement work can be across the private, public, and social sectors. You will be placed with teams and will play an active role in all aspects of the engagement.
Your role will entail working in interdisciplinary teams consisting of Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers, Designers, Software Engineers and McKinsey experts to solve problems by connecting real world business questions to machine learning methods. You will support our client services lead to identify business hypotheses and metrics and have the opportunity to define and drive the analytical scope and method for projects, including formulating and shaping the models.
You will acquire, ingest, and process data from multiple sources and systems into Big Data platforms. You will work with clients to model their data landscapes and really understand what information is available to us. You will plan and execute feature engineering strategies using open-source technologies and distributed systems.
You will develop prompt engineering strategies, RAG optimization, etc., if involved in Generative AI engagements and deliver production-level code and work closely with our data scientists to scale our work and deliver impact for our clients. You will support the Quality Assurance process of our data pipelines, participating in team stand-up, client meetings and problem-solving sessions.

Your qualifications and skills

  • University students in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent experience with expected graduation date in 2026 or 2027
  • Experience building data pipelines in a professional setting (for example, internship) would be considered a plus
  • Ability to write clean and maintainable code in an object-oriented language; specifically, Python, Good SQL knowledge for data manipulation
  • Familiarity with analytics libraries (e.g. pandas, numpy, matplotlib), distributed computing frameworks (e.g. Spark, Dask), and cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Interest in using data to solve a variety of business problems and working in cross-functional teams of experts
  • Exposure to software engineering concepts and best practices, inc. DevOps, DataOps and MLOps will be beneficial
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills paired with the ability to develop creative and efficient solutions
  • Good presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex analytical concepts to people from other fields
  • Strong command of the English language (both verbal and written)
  • Willingness to travel
