Data Delivery Lead in Life Data, MI & Analytics owning end-to-end delivery of data products, MI and insights to support the Life business. They translate business outcomes into data requirements, roadmaps and milestones, balancing BAU with transformational change in a fast-paced environment. The role partners with senior stakeholders across Operations, Marketing, Proposition, Advice, Distribution and Change, and line-manages a small team of data engineers, MI developers and analysts. It applies Agile delivery practices, ensures robust, well-governed data products and continuous improvement aligned to customer and business outcomes.

The Role
Working in Life Data, MI and Analytics, part of the wider Data, MI and AI team, the Data Delivery Lead is accountable for turning M&G’s strategic priorities into high‑quality, reliable data products and insight that enable confident decision‑making across the Life business.
Engaging and collaborating closely with business stakeholders, the role owns end‑to‑end delivery of data assets, MI and analytical insight. You will shape demand, translate complex and ambiguous requirements into clear delivery plans, and ensure data is delivered on time, to the right standard, and aligned to outcomes that matter most for customers and the business.
This is a varied role which requires the candidate to be both hands‑on enough to challenge technical detail and focused on leadership, prioritisation and delivery at pace and scale.
What you’ll be accountable for
End‑to‑end data delivery
- Own and lead the delivery of data products, MI and insight from intake through to implementation and adoption.
- Translate business outcomes into clear data requirements, roadmaps and milestones.
- Balance BAU delivery with transformational change in a fast‑paced operational environment.
Stakeholder management
- Act as the primary data delivery partner for senior stakeholders across Operations, Marketing, Proposition, Advice, Distribution and Change.
- Set expectations, manage dependencies and communicate progress, risks and trade‑offs clearly.
- Challenge requirements where needed to ensure focus on value, not volume.
- Collaborate closely with delivery partners across Technology
Team leadership and coaching
- Line manage and coach a small team of data engineers, MI developers and analysts.
- Provide direction on priorities, solution design and delivery standards.
- Create a high‑performance culture focused on quality, ownership and continuous improvement.
Delivery excellence
- Apply Agile delivery practices to manage backlogs, dependencies and delivery risk.
- Ensure data products are robust, well‑designed and fit for purpose, with clear ownership and documentation.
- Proactively identify data quality, integrity and resilience issues and drive resolution.
Strategy and improvement
- Support the Head of Life Data, MI & Analytics in shaping data strategy, capability and operating model.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and automate data delivery.
- Deputise for the Head of Data when required in senior forums and governance.

Skills, knowledge and experience
Essential
- Proven experience leading delivery in a data engineering, MI or analytics environment.
- Strong understanding of data engineering, analytics and visualisation concepts.
- Confident operating with senior stakeholders in complex, ambiguous settings.
- Experience delivering in Agile environments and managing competing priorities.
- Ability to distil complex technical detail into clear, senior‑level messages and requirements.
- Experience of working in an operational, fast-paced, environment with competing priorities and changing demands.
Technical credibility
- Strong SQL skills and experience with modern data platforms (e.g. Databricks, Azure).
- Knowledge of data design principles, specifically data product based or ontology / semantic based architectures.
- Experience delivering MI and insight using tools such as Power BI.
- Understanding of data modelling and data‑product‑led approaches.
Desirable
- Experience in financial, regulated or marketing environments.
- Knowledge of CRM or workflow platforms (e.g. Salesforce, Marketo).
- Exposure to Python, DAX, M‑Query or API‑based integration.
- Relevant cloud or data certifications.
